Private Party has been part of the AEW family for over five years but they were never able to win tag team gold and fans found that to be very shocking. Thankfully, that all changed after Dynamite this week, and now Tony Khan has reacted to the same.
On the October 30 episode of AEW Dynamite, there was a big focus on a rule that could force Private Party to split up as a tag team. They were determined not to let that happen, but the Young Bucks, the confident heel champions, were just as determined to keep their titles.
Private Party had beaten the Young Bucks years ago, but the Bucks are still top stars in AEW and have a lot of power as EVPs. That influence meant that Zay and Quen might have ended up splitting, but Private Party fought hard to prevent that. The last stretch saw The Young Bucks hitting their EVP Trigger move, but Zay managed to kick out. He found his energy again, though his partner was still down from an attack by Okada. Then Matthew hit Zay with a One-Winged Angel, but Quen jumped in to stop the pin. In the end, Private Party hit their finishing move Gin and Juice on Nick Jackson to win the match and become the new AEW World Tag Team Champions.
Tony Khan too to Twitter and uploaded a picture of himself and the new champions, congratulating them on their big win. He mentioned that their victory had been over five years in the making and described their match against the Young Bucks as a classic AEW Dynamite match.
“Congratulations again and thank you to the new AEW World Tag Team Champions @ZayKassidy + @Marq_Quen Private Party! Tonight was over 5 years in the making! Tonight was an incredible night of @AEWonTV , and Private Party vs @youngbucks was a classic #AEWDynamite match once again!”
As for the Young Bucks, they announced that they would be working from home after their shocking defeat. Nonetheless, we will have to wait and see how AEW will book Private Party as the AEW Tag Team Champions as it was truly a long time coming.
