WWE’s NXT brand and AEW Dynamite previously went head-to-head during the “Wednesday Night War” when AEW launched. Now, another direct competition may be coming. WWE has scheduled a special NXT episode for Wednesday, November 6, at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, also known as the former ECW Arena.
This episode of NXT will air on The CW at 8 p.m. ET. It will run against AEW Dynamite that night. The schedule change is due to The CW’s U.S. Presidential Election coverage on Tuesday, moving NXT from its usual slot.
During WrestleVotes Radio on SportsKeeda’s Backstage Pass Patreon, they addressed this decision to run next week’s episode of NXT on Wednesday. According to the report, The CW requested the move rather than WWE. WWE was open to running on Election Night but adjusted to accommodate The CW’s plans.
“We are told that that move was requested by the CW itself and not WWE, as WWE was not opposed to running on Election Night. However, CW is going to be doing their own coverage of Election Night. It is what it is; that show is expected to have a large ECW alumni feel to it as it will take place in Philadelphia at the 2300 Arena. Bubba Ray Dudley, Rob Van Dam, Nunzio, Dawn Marie, Francine, and others are expected as part of NXT.”
The November 6 episode has a packed lineup. Planned matches include a hardcore match featuring Trick Williams & Bubba Ray Dudley vs. Ethan Page & Ridge Holland. Jaida Parker will face Lola Vice with Dawn Marie as the special guest referee.
Additionally, a five-on-five tag match is set, featuring Roxanne Perez, Cora Jade, Fallon Henley, Jacy Jayne, and Jazmyn Nyx against Jordynne Grace, Kelani Jordan, Zaria, Giulia, and Stephanie Vaquer.
Whether this move to Wednesdays will become a regular occurrence remains to be seen, but it brings new competition for AEW. Keep checking back with us here at Ringside News for more.
