A 30-year-old pro wrestling star, AJ Gray, has announced that he may need to donate a kidney to his mother because her only kidney is failing. He shared this heartbreaking news on social media and this decision may force him to retire from pro wrestling.
Gray has done well in independent wrestling and has been in the sport for almost ten years. He took to his Instagram story and stated that if his mother needs a kidney transplant, he is willing to donate his.
In his post, Gray talked about how hard it is to deal with his mother’s health issues and that he is unsure how to handle the situation. He also mentioned that he doesn’t want to risk getting any blood-borne viruses or diseases if he donates his kidney, which could lead him to leave professional wrestling altogether.
“Just got some really messed up news…. I’m not ok… But yeah…. My mom only kidney is failing and I deadass don’t know how to react rn….. Like….. What the f*** man…. As of this moment now, I am done doing deathmatches. If she ends up needing a transplant, I’m gonna be the one giving it to her. I’m not risking any blood-borne viruses or diseases. And if she ends up needing one, I may be done with professional as a whole… I’m a man first, n**** second, wrestler third.”
AJ Gray is already an experienced wrestler at his age as he has competed for 77 promotions, including popular ones like GCW, Black Label Pro, Beyond Wrestling, and ROH. He previously called attention to AEW’s lack of diversity back in 2020 but things have changed since then. Nonetheless, we wish him the best during this difficult period in his life and hope his mother pulls through, even if it means the end of his pro wrestling career.
