WWE fans were very saddened by a previous wave of talent releases, which especially included stars like Cameron Grimes. While Grimes is grinding it out in the independent circuit right now, he has not ruled out returning to WWE.
Cameron Grimes gained a loyal fan following in NXT with his energetic personality and standout feud with LA Knight. However, after moving to the main roster, he struggled to find the same success and focus and it ultimately led to his release. Earlier this year, Grimes announced that he became a free agent and has been thriving in numerous indie promotions since then.
While speaking to Denise Salcedo, Cameron Grimes was asked if he would ever return to WWE. Cameron Grimes made it clear that he is confident in his return to WWE, believing he’ll be ready when the time comes. At 31 years old and with 17 years in the wrestling industry, he sees himself following the path of top talents who are now performing well into their 40s.
Over the past few years, Grimes has focused on maintaining his health, using his time away from the ring to heal and strengthen his body. He is committed to staying in top shape, readying his body and mind so that, even if it takes 15 years, he will be fully prepared for the opportunity to return.
“I do believe that I’m going to be okay, and I’m going to be fine, and I do believe that I will be back in WWE. Because, like, you see now—most of our top talents are in their mid-40s, to be honest. And here I am, talking to you today at 31 years old. I’ve been doing this, now going into my 17th year as a professional wrestler.
In the past couple of years, I’ve been extremely healthy, right? Because I haven’t been working. I’ve used that time to get my body better and continue to stay healthy, so that in 15 years, if it takes 15 years to get that opportunity, my body, my mind, and everything will be ready for it.”
Nevertheless, we will have to wait and see whether Cameron Grimes will make his way back to WWE somewhere down the line, as the WWE landscape is ever-changing and by the time he is back, WWE might be more accepting of him.
