AEW has featured plenty of stipulations and gimmicks over the course of the company’s history. They have split up some tag teams as well, and if Private Party couldn’t beat the Young Bucks this week, then the brothers had to split up.
During the October 30 AEW Dynamite, they made a big deal about this stipulation that Private Party may have to break up. They were determined that this wasn’t going to happen, but the Young Bucks were also very confident heel champions.
Private Party have beaten the Young Bucks before, but it’s been years. The Jacksons are still on top of AEW, and as EVPs they still have a ton of power. That internal pull could see Zay and Quen break up, but Private Party gave it their all to keep that from happening.
This match carried on right after the chaos that broke out after Jon Moxley’s segment where he addressed Orange Cassidy’s challenge for the AEW World Title. They went back and forth, and then Zay was busted open in the process.
Zay was still able to get the hot tag the moment they came back from commercial, and he lit up the Young Bucks as the Cleveland crowd popped big for them. They went to the top and hit stereo 450 splashes on the Jacksons, but they weren’t able to get the pinfall.
The Young Bucks turned things around and nailed one double team move after another, but Zay kicked out of a pinfall attempt. They moved to the outside of the ring where Matthew nailed an outside dive. Then Kazuchika Okada got involved as he nailed Quen with a tombstone on the floor at the entrance.
Zay kicked out of a double team cutter move from The Young Bucks, so he wasn’t giving up easily. Then they had a Superkick Party on Zay, but he wouldn’t stay down. The Young Bucks geared up for an EVP Trigger next, but Zay fell to the mat instead and the Bucks clashed against each other. Then Zay got a two count on a roll-up pin attempt.
In the end, the Young Bucks nailed an EVP Trigger for real, but Zay kicked out again. He started to hulk up, but his partner was still laid out thanks to Okada. Then Matthew hit a One-Winged Angel, but Quen leaped in the ring to break up the pinfall.
This was followed by Private Party nailing a Gin and Juice on Nicholas Jackson to win the match. They are now the new AEW World Tag Team Champions, and Private Party gets to keep on rolling. It took five years to get there, but Quen and Zay are now champions.
