Liv Morgan is the Women’s World Champion but it was not an easy journey for her, especially considering the fact she was arrested in Sumter County, Florida, following a traffic stop last year in December. Morgan has now finally opened up about the incident and how she dealt with it.
The incident took place during a routine traffic stop, with Liv Morgan’s vehicle reportedly emitting the odor of marijuana, catching the attention of a Sumter County Deputy. As a result, she faced charges related to the possession of marijuana, with additional concerns about potential possession of synthetic cannabinoids and this even led to a huge campaign demanding her freedom. Thankfully, the matter was resolved and the charges were dropped.
While speaking on the Impaulsive podcast, Liv Morgan talked about her arrest last year and mentioned that everyone knows about it. She said the situation is all cleared up now and that she is not guilty.
“The world knows I did have a run-in with the law. Um, it is all cleared up now. Um, I am not guilty.”
When asked about what happened, she explained that she got pulled over because there were things in her car she didn’t know about, one of which was a felony. She was arrested but quickly bailed out and called her workplace right away. Morgan contacted Dan, who was in charge of talent relations. She told him what happened, and he said they would figure it out. He told her to keep quiet and just go to work.
“Um, ’cause I wasn’t guilty. Well, you know what? Honestly, let me take a moment. I cannot make light of the situation. You know, I was in a situation where there were some things in my car that I was unaware of, and one of those things was a felony. So, I got arrested. I bailed out and I called work right away. My jail call was work.’ I called our head of talent relations at the time, Dan. I called Dan and I just explained exactly what happened. He was like, ‘All right, we’re going to figure this out. Just stay hushed, go to work tomorrow, don’t tell anyone, do your thing.’“
The next day, Liv Morgan went to work for rehab and felt really guilty and ashamed. She was worried her coworkers would be mad at her. She does a lot of community work with WWE and felt like she had messed everything up, even though she thought it wasn’t completely her fault. She knew she had to take responsibility because it was her car.
When she got to work, she had a normal conversation with Logan Paul, even though she was feeling bad. The day after her arrest, news broke at 8:00 PM that Liv Morgan had been arrested, and she was surprised at how quickly it came out.
“So, I go to work the next day to do my rehab, and I’m just feeling so guilty in that moment. You know, I’m feeling so shameful, I’m so upset. I really don’t want work to be mad at me. I do a lot of community work within WWE, and I’m like, ‘Man, I’ve just ruined everything over something that was my fault, but like, not my fault.’
But I have to take responsibility, of course. It’s my car; you know I’m going to take full responsibility for it. But yeah, I showed up to work that day just feeling guilty. I saw you, and we just had a normal conversation. So normal. I’m so—s*****.
We had a normal conversation; you would have never known. And then, um, I think it was like SmackDown. This was a Thursday. I got arrested on a Thursday, and the next day was Friday. I got to the performance center, saw you, and then news broke that night at 8:00 on the dot: ‘Liv Morgan arrested.’ I just was like, ‘It was faster than I thought!’
Liv Morgan admitted that she was upset and felt bad about what happened as she didn’t want WWE to think she was criminal and she was worried that she had ended up ruining her career.
“I was okay. I just—I think what I had already said is I felt bad. I didn’t want to lose my standing at work. I didn’t want them to think that I was like this criminal. I had worked so hard to get in the position that I was in, and I thought I just ruined everything. So, I was just upset. I thought I’d ruined my career.'”
As for her mug shot, Liv found it funny and was relieved that it turned out well. She remembered the officer saying that she would go viral because of it, which surprised her. Morgan was thankful that the mug shot looked decent and appreciated the support she received during that tough time.
‘”It was so crazy. It wasn’t like a great one, but it was like good, you know? It was one take; it was one take. And you know what’s crazy? Even the officer, she was like, ‘Ooh, you’re going to go viral.’ No way! I swear! She was like, ‘You’re going to go viral; it’s a good one!’ I was like, ‘Is it?’ She was like, ‘Yeah, I got you.'”
Fans are glad that Liv Morgan didn’t end up getting into serious trouble with the law and the entire case was resolved without any issue earlier this year as she was found not guilty. Morgan is now more focused on her upcoming match against Nia Jax at WWE Crown Jewel on November 2nd, so we’ll have to see how that will turn out for her.
