AEW World Champion Jon Moxley has been making waves as he enjoys his fourth stint with the world title, having claimed it in the main event of WrestleDream by defeating Bryan Danielson and putting an end to Danielson’s full-time wrestling career.

While gearing up for the October 30 edition of Dynamite in his home state of Ohio, Moxley sat down with Maria Angelova of Authority Magazine to discuss his health, career, and recovery. During the interview, the 38-year-old champion revealed that he’s been undergoing physical therapy for a nagging hip injury over the past few months.

“I’ve been going to physical therapy for my hip for the last few months,” Moxley shared. “When it comes to rehabbing injuries, just find quality P.T. people and do everything they say with 100 percent effort. Vetting them is important. I think the biggest differentiator between someone who returns from a serious injury 100 percent and someone who’s never quite the same again is simply the attitude with which they approached rehab.”

Moxley emphasized the importance of focus, even when recovery tasks seem small. “If you’re on crutches and all they tell you to do for the day is 15 reps of little foot flexes or something, make those the best, most focused 15 reps you can.”

The former WWE star also reflected on the challenges of aging in a physically demanding profession. “Being that I’m 38 and have been getting the crap kicked out of me for 20 years, I don’t recover as quickly as I used to. That’s been difficult to accept.”

Moxley revealed that a principle he learned in his youth has been key to his success. “At 11 years old, I discovered that hard work beats talent, or at least it can. I didn’t have any advantages — I was a nobody — but who cares? I’d just outwork everyone.”

Moxley admitted that adjusting his approach to recovery has been a learning experience. “It’s hard to accept that my body can’t do everything my mind wants it to anymore. But now, it’s about attacking all the tedious stretching, mobility, and recovery practices with intention.”

Since WrestleDream, Moxley has remained in the crosshairs of AEW stars like Marina Shafir, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, and PAC. With a target on his back and a hip in recovery, Moxley shows no signs of slowing down.
