Cody Rhodes Was Caught Off-Guard By Brandi Rhodes’ WWE Exit

WWE has seen a few shocking exits over the past decade or so. Except for possibly CM Punk, no departure and return has been quite as dramatic as Cody Rhodes. In both cases, their wives, AJ Lee and Brandi Rhodes respectively, have yet to make a return to the company along with their husbands. It turns out that Cody didn’t see his wife’s exit coming at all initially.

Brandi Rhodes was once known as Eden in WWE, where she was the ring announcer. Then, she departed from the company a short time after her husband, Cody Rhodes, who was performing as Stardust at the time, decided to leave Vince McMahon’s operation. That came as a bit of a shock for the American Nightmare.

While speaking to the Flagrant podcast, Cody Rhodes revealed that he had no idea that Brandi Rhodes was going to leave WWE after he did. He admitted that things were “paycheck to paycheck” for him after his WWE departure, so Brandi leaving her announcer gig wasn’t expected at all.

“She worked for WWE too, she was the ring announcer, and you know cause she’s super loyal, which is the number one thing you want, I didn’t think she was gonna leave. Then a week later she was like, ‘Oh yeah, I’m out, too.'”

Brandi Rhodes leaving WWE was a surprise for Cody Rhodes, because he said that she really helped pull the family’s finances together at a certain point. They were obviously able to make things work as the two set off to tell their own stories outside WWE.

AEW had Cody Rhodes in an EVP role, and he was an active on-screen talent. Brandi Rhodes was also an on-screen talent, and she was Chief Brand Officer for the company. Then they both left that company in surprising fashion in 2022, but Cody wasn’t a free agent for 50 days before his massive WrestleMania 38 return. Cody later confirmed that his WWE RAW return promo wasn’t even approved, as the company let him speak from the heart.

We will have to see if Brandi Rhodes ever makes a return to WWE television, but Cody Rhodes’ character seems to be doing just fine as a solo act. In the meantime, Brandi Rhodes is very busy at home with their daughter, Liberty, and she also has a Yoga studio that she runs.
