Cody Rhodes has been through many great moments throughout his career in the pro wrestling business. Despite the fact that he is riding high as a top champion in the company now, just a year ago, he experienced what he considers his most unprofessional moment.
Rhodes teamed up with Jey Uso to beat Damian Priest and Finn Balor of Judgment Day at Fastlane 2023 to win the Undisputed Tag Team Titles. This gave them two sets of title belts to hold around their shoulders, and it was certainly a great feeling. The two promptly celebrated, and fans were soon let in on that experience.
During the Flagrant podcast, Cody Rhodes remembered the most unprofessional moment of his career. While many fans may have loved every moment of their time during the Fastlane press conference last year, Cody remembered it a bit differently.
“So the most unprofessional moment of my career — I had just won the tag team titles with Jey Uso at Fastlane. It was super fun and we got to be opening match, and when you’re opening match you just try to steal that show and just start that thing with a bang, and we had had a lot of time — and it’s important that people know that I did not know that I was needed for the press conference. So we get on my bus and then several libations were passed around. Then our PA Tommy, god bless him, comes on the bus. At the time, I was like ‘alright’ but then when we got there I had to let the press know that we had a good time because it was disastrous.”
Cody Rhodes was responsible for bringing Jey Uso over to WWE RAW. Uso quit the Bloodline and SmackDown before he was brought over to the red brand. It didn’t take much time for that alliance to gain tag team gold.
This was a big win for Jey Uso as well, because it was his first title after leaving the Bloodline. It was also his first title that he held with anyone, except for Jey Uso. They had quite a night and the conference was clipped like crazy as fans shared footage around of Uce and the American Nightmare having a great time in Indianapolis.
For the record, WWE must not have minded the appearance at all. In fact, the company put out a special video of their part of the conference as a video a short time afterward.
