It’s Wednesday night and you know what that means! The Fright Night episode of AEW Dynamite will go down tonight, and Ringside News has got you covered with live play-by-play results coverage for the October 30, 2024 episode.

The show opens up with a “Fright Night” video package. We then get a video of AEW World Champion Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta exiting the building after taking out Chuck Taylor last week.
The Conglomeration’s “Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy then makes his way down to the ring with no entrance music to address the AEW fans as Excalibur, Tony Schiavone and “Daddy Magic” Matt Menard welcomes us to the show.
Orange Cassidy starts off by saying he doesn’t do this or like this, but after last week he slid into the ring when he saw Chuck Taylor laid out in the ring. Cassidy then says Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, Wheeler Yuta and Marina Shafir are dangerous. Cassidy then says Moxley doesn’t need AEW or never needed it, but he needs AEW. Cassidy then says he knows what he needs to do to stop Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, Wheeler Yuta and Marina Shafir and that is to cut the head off the snake in order to make sure no one else gets hurt. Cassidy then challenges Moxley to a match for the AEW World Championship to take it out of his bag and into his backpack. Cassidy then tells Moxley to come and find him and says he’s not hard to find as he’s in the ring every week. Cassidy then says he is the next AEW World Champion and he still doesn’t need a catchphrase. Cassidy then drops the mic and exits the ring.
We then see AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Moné and Kamille walking backstage when Renee Paquette approaches them and asks Moné for a prediction on Kamille’s match with Kris Statlander. Moné says she hates terrible questions. Moné then puts over Statlander as a powerhouse, but says she doesn’t hold a candle to Kamille. Paquette then wishes Kamille luck. Moné then says you don’t need luck when you’re with The CEO.
Adam Cole then makes his way down to the ring for the first match of the night and Buddy Matthews follows.
The match starts off with both men shaking hands with each other. Both men then lock up and go back and forth, but Matthews nails Cole with a shoulder tackle. Cole then gets knocked to the outside and takes a moment to recover as we see Kyle O’Reilly watching the action from backstage. Matthews then nails Cole with a kick on his chest off the apron. Matthews then hits a superplex on Cole off the top. Cole then responds with a shoulder-breaker on Matthews and both men exchange forearms with one another on the apron. Cole then hits a DDT on Matthews on the apron, but Matthews continues wearing down Cole’s injured ankle in the ring and stomps on it on the ring steps. A medical official then helps Cole to the back after he deems him too unfit to compete, but Matthews calls him out and Cole gets back in the ring. Both men then continue to brawl and Cole hits a series of superkicks on Matthews. Matthews then responds with a Curb Stomp and pins Cole, but Cole kicks out and hits another superkick on Matthews. Cole then follows it up with a thrust kick on Matthews’ midsection and a Shining Wizard, then goes for a pin but Matthews kicks out. Matthews then powerbombs Cole into the corner and hits him with a Curb Stomp, then goes for a pin. Cole quickly kicks out as we see MJF watching the action on a television elsewhere, then Cole hits the Panama Sunrise on Matthews and follows it up with a second one off the apron and on the outside. Cole then gets Matthews back in the ring and hits a second Shining Wizard for the win.

After the match, Cole grabs a mic and says he appreciates Matthews pushing him to finish the match. Cole then offers his hand to Matthews and Matthews goes to shake it. The lights then go out and when they come back on, it’s Malakai Black who’s shaking Cole’s hand instead as Matthews stands next to the two of them. Cole then exits the ring and was helped by the trainer as they walk past the grave set on the stage and through the tunnel to the back.
We then head to the back, where Renee Paquette is interviewing Christopher Daniels and Private Party (Zay and Quen). Daniels says he and Frankie Kazarian were in a match with a similar stipulation to the one Private Party will have later. Daniels then says he lost the match and his relationship with Kazarian hasn’t been the same since. Both Private Party members then express their confidence that they will win.
Adam Cole then cuts a promo while Roderick Strong, Matt Taven and Mike Bennett are standing behind him in his locker room. Cole says his ankle isn’t what it once was. Cole then says he doesn’t blame MJF for that. Cole then says he doesn’t blame MJF for being a bad friend and for never checking up on him. Cole then says he blames MJF for pretending that they will work. Cole then says guys like him and MJF are meant to be enemies. Cole then says MJF would have betrayed him the first chance he got. Cole then points to what MJF did to Wardlow, Sammy Guevara and Daniel Garcia. Cole then says MJF needed to be taught a hard lesson. Cole then says what they did to MJF was extreme, but it needed to happen. Cole then says he cares about AEW and its fans and MJF has never been part of the team and never will be. Cole then says he will get his hands on MJF at Full Gear and will be happy to teach him another lesson. Cole then says it is one down and two to go. Commentary then points out that Roderick Strong has the same three-match challenge.
Kyle Fletcher and Don Callis then make their way out to address the AEW fans. Don Callis starts off by saying Fletcher has something important to say and Fletcher says he wants to keep to his word. Fletcher then calls Will Ospreay out to the ring, but Ospreay’s music doesn’t hit. The United Empire’s music hits instead and Mark Davis makes his way out. Fletcher says it’s nice to see Davis again and Davis tells Fletcher that while he wishes that he could look him in the eye and say the same thing, he can’t after what Fletcher did to Ospreay. Fletcher then says all that’s happened since Davis has been sidelined with an injury is that he had his eyes opened. Fletcher then tells Davis that he made sure that there would be a spot for him in The Don Callis Family upon his return. Davis then says that they had an Empire and looks to walk to the back, but Fletcher warns Davis and tells him that he’s seen what he does to people who don’t listen to him.
Excalibur then hypes Kyle Fletcher vs. The Beast Mortos for AEW Collision.
We then head to the back, where Renee Paquette is speaking with Hangman Page about facing Jay White at Full Gear. Page recalls knocking Jay White out of the Owen Hart Cup tournament. Page also takes credit for injuring White when he missed time. Page then says there is no such thing as redemption. Page then says there are only wins and losses and the consequences will follow. Page then says he knows what White’s strategy will be, but White doesn’t know what his will be. Page then talks about strangling White’s friends in front of him or possibly burning down his home. Page then says he will leave White hurt with less than he had before. Page then says, “Jay White, I will leave you behind.”

AEW World Champion Jon Moxley, Marina Shafir, Wheeler Yuta, PAC and Claudio Castagnoli then make their way down to the ring. Jon Moxley starts off by saying fans will one day understand what he, Yuta, Castagnoli, Shafir and PAC are trying to accomplish. Moxley then addresses Orange Cassidy and says while Cassidy thinks that he challenged him to an AEW World Championship match, but in reality, he challenged him last week when he took out Chuck Taylor. Moxley then says Cassidy didn’t want to step up and lead like the Cassidy he knows and respects. Moxley then says when the time comes, Cassidy will fight him in a valley and it will be one that he’s willing to die in. Moxley then says Cassidy thinks that he’s focused, but in reality, he’s become distracted. PAC and Shafir then blindside Yuta in place as Castagnoli places a chair around his neck. Cassidy then makes his way down to the ring to save his former ally, but Castagnoli and PAC attack him as Shafir checks on Yuta after attacking him as part of their trap. Dark Order then make their way down to even the odds, but Moxley, Castagnoli and PAC overpower them. PAC and Castagnoli then place a chair around Cassidy’s neck, but Darby Allin makes his way down from the rafters and begins brawling with Castagnoli. Allin then bites him, but Castagnoli sends him over the announce desk. Top Flight, Action Andretti, Lio Rush, Private Party and Daniel Garcia then make their way down to outnumber Moxley, Shafir, PAC, Castagnoli and Yuta before brawling with them through the crowd.
Private Party stays in the ring for the next match of the night and The Young Bucks make their way down.
The match starts off with Nicholas Jackson and Zay. Both men lock up. Matthew Jackson then tags in and The Bucks double team on Zay. Zay then takes down Matthew and Nicholas and Quen follows it up with a double hurricanrana. Zay then uses Quen as a launch pad to fly over the top and land on The Bucks on the outside. Zay then runs the ropes, but Matthew trips him and sends Zay crashing into the ring apron face first. Matthew then looks to hit Zay with the ring bell, but Quen grabs it from him and looks to hit Matthew with it. Quen then accidentally hits Zay, opening the door for Matthew to take him down. Matthew then sends Zay’s face repeatedly bouncing off the ring steps and Nicholas looks to hit Zay with an enzuigiri, but accidentally hits Matthew. Nicholas then hits a Michinoku Driver on Zay off the ring steps and Matthew hit a superplex on Quen. Zay then tags in and delivers some right and left hands on Matthew. Private Party then nails The Bucks with superkicks, then climbs up the ropes and hits 450 Splashes on The Bucks. They then go for a double pin, but The Bucks kick out. The Bucks then respond with a TK Driver on Zay and go for a pin, but Zay kicks out.
Quen then hits a tope suicida that sends Nicholas crashing over the announce desk, then flies over the top rope to land on Matthew. The Bucks then drag Quen up the ramp and Kazuchika Okada appears. Okada hits a tombstone on Quen on the top of the ramp, opening the door for Matthew to powerbomb Zay into the corner and Nicholas to hit him with an enzuigiri. Nicholas then hits a hurricanrana as Matthew hits a cutter and The Bucks hit alternating superkicks on Zay. Nicholas then goes for a pin, but Zay kicks out. The Bucks then set up for the EVP Trigger, but Zay falls over. The Bucks then get him back up and look to hit him with the BTE Trigger, but Zay avoids it and rolls up Matthew. Matthew then kicks out and Nicholas hits an enzuigiri on him. The Bucks then hit the EVP Trigger and go for a pin, but Zay kicks out. Nicholas then hits a running knee on the back of Zay’s neck and Matthew follows it up with a One Winged Angel. Matthew then goes for a pin, but Quen breaks the fall. The Bucks then set up for the TK Driver, but Quen trips Nicholas and Zay hits a reverse hurricanrana on Matthew. Private Party then hits the Gin and Juice on Nicholas for the win.

After the match, The Bucks hand Private Party the AEW World Tag Team Championship belts. The Bucks then congratulates Private Party before leaving the ring. Quen and Zay then goes to the crowd and celebrates their win. The referee then follows them and then they all head to the back.
Excalibur then officially announces Jon Moxley vs. Orange Cassidy for the AEW World Championship at Full Gear on November 23.
We then head to the back, where Renee Paquette is speaking with Jamie Hayter and Penelope Ford and says they had agreed to no physicality. Paquette then asks them about their match on next week’s show. Ford says she has been with the company since day one and she will take what she deserves and accuses Hayter of taking it from her. Hayter then says she will mop the floor with Ford.
A tale of the tape is then shown for Swerve Strickland vs. Shelton Benjamin and we get a brief video package on their match.
Commentary then recalls Chris Jericho winning the ROH World Championship with help from Big Bill. ROH World Champion Chris Jericho, Big Bill and Bryan Keith then stands on the stage. Bill gives a little speech about teamwork. Jericho then does his “hi, guys” bit. Jericho then says the ladder match is something the Wrestling Observer said will be remembered for a long time. Jericho then says Dave Meltzer gave the match four stars. Jericho then says he couldn’t have done it without Bill and Keith. Jericho then acts like he messed up by starting to say they are in Cincinnati. Jericho then mentions his role in Terrifier 3. Jericho then says he will take ROH to its biggest success because he’s Chris Jericho and he can. Jericho then says if you underestimate him, then you are overestimating your knowledge of the television and pro wrestling business. Keith then says never underestimate Chris Jericho you dumbasses. Jericho then goes into David Lee Roth mode while telling fans to reach down between their legs, ease the seat back, and enjoy the ride while he takes ROH and all of you to places and heights you’ve never seen before.
We then get a video package looking at Mariah May vs. Anna Jay for the AEW Women’s Championship on Saturday’s Collision.
We then head to the back, where Alex Marvez is trying to speak with The Young Bucks, but Jack Perry stops him from entering The Elite dressing room. Daniel Garcia says Perry will be next to lose his title. Perry then shoves Garcia and Garcia shoves Perry against the wall. Garcia says he is sick of entitled guys like Perry and Perry says the fans used to dance for him too. After Garcia leaves, Perry enters The Elite’s dressing room. Okada was seated in a chair while The Bucks were stuffing gear in their back quickly and Brandon Cutler was shredding documents. Perry then shoves the cameraman out of the room and closes the door.
We then get the entrances of the next match of the night.
The match starts off with both women locking up. Kamille nails Statlander with a shoulder tackle, but Statlander quickly gets back up. Kamille then repeatedly sends Statlander’s face bouncing off the mat. Statlander then hits Kamille with an F5 and goes for a pin. Kamille then kicks out and nails Statlander with a modified Famouser, then gets her up on her shoulders and sends her cashing into the mat with a Fireman’s Carry style sit-out powerbomb. Kamille then goes for a pin, but Statlander kicks out and hits the Saturday Night Fever for the win.

After the match, Mercedes Moné nails Statlander from behind with the TBS Championship and demands that Kamille head to the back. Moné says when you want something done right, you do it yourself. Moné then holds the TBS Title belt in Statlander’s face and then her music plays.
We then get a video package focused on The Patriarchy leaving HOOK laying last week.
We then head to the back, where Christian Cage is standing with Nick Wayne, Mother Wayne and Kip Sabian. Christian says there is a bit of a misunderstanding with HOOK last week. Christian then says he wanted to extend an olive branch and then invites HOOK to join him in the ring next week so he can explain himself.
Excalibur then hypes Swerve Strickland vs. Shelton Benjamin for the next match of the night.
We then see Renee Paquette having a conversation with Mark Briscoe, Kyle O’Reilly and Tomohiro Ishii. Briscoe says ROH and the ROH World Title mean a lot to him. Briscoe then questions when Chris Jericho bumped his head to the point that he no longer cares about his own wellbeing. Briscoe then says if Jericho mentions Jay Briscoe’s name again he will pay. Briscoe then speaks about facing Jericho in a Fight Without Honor.
Matthew Jackson and Nicholas Jackson are then shown making a quick exit from the building and blows off Alex Marvez. Christopher Daniels then tries to stop them. Matthew says they wanted to change the world, but Daniels and nobody else would listen to them. Matthew then says he will be working from home. Brandon Cutler then stumbles around with a box, while calling for the Bucks not to leave without him even though they had already left. Jon Moxley and his crew then show up. PAC then chokes Cutler out, while Moxley forces Daniels to watch. Castagnoli then hits a hammer on the hand of Cutler.
We then get the entrances of the main event of the night.
The match starts off with both men staring each other down. They then go back and forth, but Benjamin sends Strickland out of the ring and looks to send him crashing into the ring post. Strickland then escapes and wears down Benjamin’s arm using the ring post for extra leverage. Strickland then looks to hit a kick off the apron, but Benjamin trips him and sends him crashing into one of the barricades and the ring apron. Benjamin then hits a high back body drop on Strickland back in the ring, but Strickland dials it up for a 619 on Benjamin’s midsection. Benjamin then sends Strickland crashing out of the ring. Benjamin then hits a German suplex on Strickland. Strickland then responds with a roundhouse kick on Benjamin’s head, then hits a back elbow off the middle rope and follows it up with a boot off the apron. Strickland then looks to hit a jumping Codebreaker on Benjamin, but Benjamin catches him and hits him with a suplex. Benjamin then responds with a series of kicks, but Strickland takes him down with the House Call and a 450 Splash. Strickland then goes for a pin, but Benjamin kicks out. Benjamin then hits a German suplex on Strickland and a running kick in the corner, but Strickland responds with a jumping Codebreaker. Benjamin then climbs up the ropes, but Strickland pulls him down with a powerbomb and follows it up with the Swerve Stomp for the win.

After the match, MVP calls someone on his phone. The lights then go out momentarily and music starts playing. Bobby Lashley then makes his way out and hugs MVP, then stares down Strickland and hits him with a clothesline as MVP attacks Nana with his cane. Benjamin and Lashley then delivers some stomps on Strickland and Lashley takes Strickland down with a chokeslam. Security then makes their way down to the ring, but The Hurt Syndicate takes several of them down. MVP then grabs a mic and asks fans to guess who’s back in business. The Hurt Syndicate then stands tall as the show comes to a close.
