AEW brought their Dynamite show to the Wolstein Center in Cleveland this week, and that crowd got quite a show. Although Tony Khan’s company promoted a few attention-grabbing items on the card, many fans tuned in waiting to see Adam Cole get back to action.

Adam Cole made his long-awaited return to AEW during AEW WrestleDream 2024. This was a big moment, and since then, he has not let up on his feud with MJF. However, there was also no mention to how Cole revealed himself to be The Devil prior to his departure.

Despite his injury, Adam Cole remained active in AEW storylines, most notably betraying MJF at Worlds End in December, forming The Undisputed Kingdom with Matt Taven, Mike Bennett, Roderick Strong, and Wardlow. His last appearance on AEW television, prior to his hiatus, was during Double or Nothing in May, where an in-ring confrontation with MJF led to Cole being written off TV.

During the October 30 AEW Dynamite, Adam Cole faced off against Buddy Matthews, who was not an easy first opponent back by any means. This was a big match, and it was the lead-off contest of the night.

Fans were ready to see this match go down in a big way, as they cheered loudly for Adam Cole. There was also some back and forth action before the commercial break.

During the match, Matthews focused on Adam Cole’s leg, and they even stopped the match, so the medical team could take a look at his knee. Doc Samson started to walk Adam Cole to the back, as he said that this match wasn’t worth it. Then Buddy Matthews got on the microphone, called the “new Adam Cole” a “little bitch,” and that brought Cole back to the ring.

Adam Cole got back to it, and he landed a few kicks, but then his leg went out, and Matthews almost got a pinfall off a stomp. They involved a white towel spot at one point, but Cole didn’t throw anything in. The match continued as Matthews kicked out after two.

Buddy Matthews nailed another stomp, but Cole kicked out. Then Cole rallied and nailed a Panama Sunrise that sent Matthews outside. Then Cole went outside the ring and nailed another Panama Sunrise. This was followed by a Boom knee strike for the win, and Adam Cole won his first match back in AEW.

What do you think will happen with Adam Cole in AEW next?
