During NXT Halloween Havoc, Tatum Paxley took the opportunity and spun the wheel to make a deal after she was granted a match against Wendy Choo. That wheel landed on a casket match, which meant the fallout of the premium live event would have a bit of Halloween flare to it.
Tatum Paxley vs. Wendy Choo kicked off the October 29 NXT. Paxley dragged a giant casket to the ring with her, and then Choo, dressed like the Nightmare Before Christmas, had a bed on wheels. That set the stage for a bizarre beginning to NXT this week.
This was only the third casket match in WWE history not to feature The Undertaker or Kane. It was also the first-ever women’s casket match in company history. The casket lid was lifted early on, and they teased the end several times, but each time the competitors would get out of it.
Paxley and Choo fought at ringside, and then Paxley put a trash can over Choo and whacked it with a broom. They got back to the ring, where Choo ate an inverted Angle Slam from Paxley, but then she ducked out of the way, leaving Tatum to smash against a trash can. Then Wendy Choo put Paxley in the can and delivered a dropkick in the corner.
They got a doll house involved and propped up in the corner. Then Paxley took a bump through the doll house and the show was muted for a good 30 seconds because of all the “holy sh*t” chants from the fans. Then Wendy Choo put her in the casket and closed the lid, but Paxley used Choo’s pillow to stop it from cloing all the way.
Then Wendy Choo spilled out a ton of Lego building blocks on the mat from within her pillow. They teased who would take the Lego bump before Tatum took a hard back bump and “NXT!” chants busted out of the crowd.
Then Wendy Choo threw Tatum in the casket, and they battled to get the door closed before Choo did a dive into the casket and the door shut on both of them. Then Wendy they both got up, and fought in the casket and the fight spilled out before Wendy took a bump off the casket through her bed, and there were even more “Holy Sh*t” chants.
Then Tatum Paxley put Wendy Choo in the casket and closed it to win the first-ever women’s casket match in WWE history.
