Sammy Guevara has had a rollercoaster of a year, facing highs and lows but showing no signs of slowing down.
After a suspension due to concussion protocol violations following a match with Jeff Hardy, Guevara was off TV for a few months. He made his return to ROH in July before reclaiming his spot on AEW television the following month. In August, he captured the ROH World Tag Team Championship alongside Dustin Rhodes during AEW Collision.
Reflecting on his journey so far, Guevara got candid with fans on the latest episode of his vlog, which was recorded across July and August.
“Man, what a crazy year. A lot has happened,” Guevara began. “I went from going for the AEW tag titles with a different partner to winning tag team gold with Dustin Rhodes, and to do it in Texas—a place I wrestled so much on the independents—feels surreal. Some of the same fans who came to those early shows brought old photos from 2015 and 2016. It’s such a trip—it feels like it was yesterday, but it’s been almost ten years.”
Guevara’s journey, however, is far from over. He stressed that his best moments are still ahead of him, saying, “The best of Sammy Guevara is not a chapter closed. It’s the one I’m writing right now. So be on the lookout because there’s a lot more greatness left in me to give. I know it’s gonna piss some of y’all motherf*ckers off, but I ain’t going nowhere. I ain’t going nowhere.”
Guevara has also shared that he’s working to be the best version of himself, acknowledging past mistakes and saying he’s done standing in his own way. He continues to compete actively in both AEW and ROH. Most recently, he faced Shelton Benjamin on the October 23rd episode of AEW Dynamite, where he came up short.
