WWE brought a bit episode of NXT on October 29, one week before they are set to take over the 2300 Arena in Philly. The tag team titles were on the line, and that kind of match always spells for a high-priced bit match feel in WWE’s developmental brand.
In the NXT Tag Team Championship match, Fraxiom took on Je’Von Evans & Cedric Alexander. While Axiom and Nathan Frazer have melded into a great tag team over the months, with an impending breakup bound to happen sooner or later, the newly formed team of Je’Von Evans and Cedric Alexander is incredibly interesting.
This match served as the main event of the show, even though fans were shocked by the bloody assault on Rhea Ripley. The NXT Tag Team Champions had quite a test in front of them if they wanted to retain their titles on this night.
At one point, Frazer ignored Axiom asking for a tag, and that gave an opportunity for Je’Von Evans to get the upperhand on him. It was noted on commentary that Frazer was the one who booked this match without Axiom’s approval. The first commercial break ended with Evans and Alexander on top.
Evans rallied as he hit dives and high spots, one after another, to take out the champions, but he only scored a two count. Axiom didn’t like that, and then Evans was able to pull off a move where he made Axiom give Frazer a DDT thanks to a well-timed Superkick, and that scored a two count as well.
They continued as Axiom hit a dropkick off the top rope, but Evans kicked out of the pin. Axiom’s chest was showing welts thanks to all the chops and punishment from this match. Then Alexander almost had a pin on Axiom, but Frazer dropkicked Evans into them to break up the count.
Je’Von Evans got the tag next, and he almost got a pin on Axiom with a giant springboard cutter. Then Alexander got the tag, and they surrounded Axiom before the champion hit a Canadian Destroyer on Evans, then he avoided Alexander’s punishment before taking a bunch of chops in the corner.
Axiom nailed a Spanish Fly before Frazer hit a Phoenix Splash on Alexander for a near fall before Evans broke it up with a giant cutter. Alexander almost won the match, but Wes Lee showed up with a chair and Evans chased him off. This left Alexander all to himself, and he soon lost as the champions retained their titles.
Then they showed Je’Von Evans and Wes Lee brawling backstage. Suddenly, as Ava was trying to break them up, RVD walked up and said, “I know what I wanna do next week, you just gave me an idea.” Then he left as the show ended. RVD had previously stated that he wants a spot during the 2300 Arena show next week.
What do you think RVD is going to do during the November 6 NXT in the 2300 Arena?
