Jeff Jarrett had a Hall of Fame career on many accounts. Not only was he responsible for creating TNA Wrestling, but his name has also been involved in WCW, WWE and AEW history in big ways. He’s achieved a lot, but at 57-years-old, although he is uncertain about the subject, he has to be considering the end of his long in-ring journey.

Jarrett is rapidly approaching the 40-year mark on his road through professional wrestling. Double J has competed in over 2,000 matches across major promotions like TNA, WCW, WWE, AAA, and AEW since he broke onto the scene in 1986.

Despite the fact that he’s still wrestling on a regular basis, many fans have wondered about how long Jarrett’s current run will last. Some fans have even speculated on who Jarrett could face in his final match.

On the latest edition of My World, Jarrett was asked to name his ideal retirement opponent if he had to hang up the boots today. Conrad Thompson first suggested that Jarrett name one match that he’d have as a babyface.

“It’s definitely got to be somebody younger than me. 20 years younger, so I’ve got to look at somebody in their 30s. Oh boy. MJF.]

Jeff Jarrett then went on to name Bryan Danielson as the opponent he’d choose if he was going into the match as a heel. He said the match would be a fun way to cap off his career.

“I’d like to drag Bryan Danielson’s ass out to the ring and just beat the shit out of him and then let him tap me out. [laughs] I’ll drag him out. That’d be fun.”

Since Bryan Danielson wrapped up his career at AEW WrestleDream 2024 as he lost the AEW World Title, it would take a lot for a match to be arranged between himself and Double J. That being said, Jarrett was one of Danielson’s final opponents, so the Bearded GOAT may do Jarrett that favor if needed.

Either way, Jeff Jarrett’s career in pro wrestling will certainly be celebrated in a big way if he does have his last match in AEW. Tony Khan knows what Jarrett has contributed to the pro wrestling business, and his treatment of Sting’s retirement run should show that he knows how to handle such a booking responsibility.
