Despite that fact that many legends have been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, several influential names have yet to receive the honor, including the iconic tag team Demolition. Known for their impact on future generations of wrestlers, their absence from the Hall of Fame is a point of frustration for many fans. It was recently revealed that Demolition nearly made an appearance last year, but circumstances prevented it from happening.
Bill Eadie and Barry Darsow, better known as Ax and Smash of Demolition, are three-time WWF Tag Team Champions, with their first title reign standing as the fourth longest in WWE history. Their legacy is undeniable, and fans often ask why they have not yet been inducted into the Hall of Fame.
The topic came up once again during an appearance on Hitting The Turnbuckle, where Eadie expressed hope that the change in WWE leadership could improve their standing with the company. While they haven’t spoken to anyone in upper management, Eadie mentioned they’re not overly concerned about it.
“Well, we never had an objection to going in (the WWE Hall of Fame). There was a lot of politics involved and now it’s changed like you say and hopefully, the change for the better with our relationship. But we’ve never been in contact with anybody from the office and like you said before, the only person that made the decision for anything before was Vince (McMahon), and we weren’t on Vince’s like list I guess. But, we’ve never objected to being inducted, we’ve never objected to being included in anything with WWE. So, quite possibly could happen. But one thing we haven’t done, we haven’t lost any sleep over it.”
Darsow revealed that the team was invited to last year’s WWE Hall of Fame ceremony, but they were unable to attend due to prior commitments. He explained that they had already been booked by another promoter and couldn’t cancel those plans, hoping WWE understood the situation. Despite this setback, Darsow viewed the invitation as a positive sign, particularly with Triple H now playing a key role in WWE’s decision-making.
“Now last year at WrestleMania time, right before WrestleMania, they called us and they invited us to WrestleMania, and they invited us to the Hall of Fame and that was a big change with Triple H in there. I’m sure that’s all his idea. We had to unfortunately turn them down because the person who brought us in, he paid for us to come in, and we were busy doing stuff with him so it wasn’t like we could just leave and jump ship and go over there, and I’m hoping they understood it and they should have. But, that was the first kind of, ‘Hey, you guys wanna come and be with us?’ So that was a good sign.“
Many believe Demolition’s exclusion may have been linked to their involvement in a class action lawsuit against WWE led by attorney Konstantine Kyros, though no official reason has been given for their omission from the Hall of Fame. With Triple H now in charge, there is renewed hope that Demolition could finally be honored for their contributions to the sport.
As WWE prepares for the 2025 Hall of Fame inductions, it remains to be seen whether Demolition will make the list. Fans are eager to see the iconic tag team receive their long-overdue recognition, though there are always names left out each year.
Details about the 2025 WWE Hall of Fame class, including the ceremony and venue, have yet to be announced. WrestleMania 41 week is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada.
