Bobby Lashley had a solid career in WWE but he ultimately did not end up doing much after WrestleMania 40. While he did leave the company earlier this year, there were many feuds that fans never got to see with him, and that includes WWE World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER. In fact, Lashley revealed a controversial idea he had for a feud with GUNTHER that was based on racial tension.

While speaking on the Lame Guys Podcast, Bobby talked about some ideas he had for a possible feud with GUNTHER. He thought it would be interesting if, while still part of the Hurt Business, he confronted GUNTHER, who would say that someone like Lashley didn’t deserve a chance at his title. Lashley believed this would grab everyone’s attention and hint at some racial tension between them because of their German and Black backgrounds.

The Almighty suggested that GUNTHER could imply that Lashley and his group didn’t belong, which would make the crowd react in an unexpected manner. Lashley imagined a moment where he would point out something about GUNTHER’s appearance, suggesting they could play with the idea of racial differences without going too far. Ultimately, he felt there were many ways they could create a big feud.

“When GUNTHER was rolling. There was one thing I wanted to do with him, and everybody would have been like, ‘Ohhhhh.’ If we were still the Hurt Business, I was like, ‘I want to roll up on him, and I want GUNTHER to say, ‘People like you don’t deserve a chance at my title.” People would have been like, ‘What did he say?’ We would have toed that line. If you think about the German and these black dudes. ‘Is there a little bit of racial tension there?’ We didn’t have to go there, ‘What do you mean by ‘People like you?” He could be like, ‘Older guys in wrestling.’ The crowd would have been like, ‘Uhhh, did he say that?’ Then I was going to say, ‘I think you look familiar,’ and do one of these [Holds his thumb to his top lip, indicating a mustache]. There it is! I don’t know if we could have went there, but if we could have. There are so many things you could toe the line with there, and it could have been a huge feud.”

It’s quite evident Bobby Lashley wanted to imply that due to GUNTHER hailing from Austria, he wanted to touch upon the fact that he might have had some similarities with Adolf Hitler. Regardless, many fans feel that this idea for a feud would simply be in bad taste and are glad it never saw the light of day. For now, fans are more focused on whether Lashley will make his way to AEW and perhaps that’s for the best.

What do you think of this idea by Bobby Lashley? Do you believe such a feud would have worked in this day and age? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
