Chris Jericho is a true legend in the pro wrestling world and is also proud to be working in AEW, something he is never afraid of showing. He is getting older and that’s why he had to make significant changes to his workout regime and he has now admitted that he does not lift weights anymore.

Chris Jericho, who is 53 years old, has been wrestling since 1990 and has been a major star in both WWE and AEW. Despite his age, Jericho continues to be an active in-ring competitor but he has faced his fair share of body shaming over the years.

While speaking during an appearance on The Adam Carolla Show, Jericho talked about how he stays in shape at this point in his career. He explained that his focus is now more on diet rather than weightlifting because his joints are not in great shape anymore. He emphasized that as people get older, how much weight they can lift becomes less important. Instead, he has shifted his workouts to kickboxing, which he enjoys for cardio and improving his body shape.

Jericho mentioned that he hasn’t had serious injuries that kept him from wrestling, so he is careful about his training. He recognizes that wrestling is a contact sport, and while he tries to be cautious, he also needs to stay strong and fit.

“I mean it really is focused on diet now more than anything. I don’t lift weights, per se, anymore because my joints are getting too messed up. As you get older, how much you bench really doesn’t matter anymore. So a lot of dieting, constantly. That’s kind of the number one. I kind of shifted all of my training over to kickboxing. I really enjoy that for a cardio workout. It’s good for the form, for the definition as well.

“But yeah, that’s kind of the most that I do because like I mentioned, lifting weights, I think it becomes more counterproductive over the years when you’re really straining with those joints and those ligaments. I’ve also been very fortunate, I’ve never had really injuries. I really haven’t been injured at all to where I had to miss any length of time, so I’m cognizant of that as well, so I don’t want to mess with that dynamic too. So it’s wrestling, so we can kind of pick and choose our spots. You still never know, it’s still a contact sport, it’s still got the live stunt show element to it. So you can be as careful as you want, but you still have to be durable and cognizant of where your body is and just stay in the best shape you can.”

Chris Jericho won the Ring of Honor World Championship for the second time on during the October 23rd edition of AEW Dynamite and it’s clear AEW has big plans for the legend. Regardless, Jericho will continue to focus on his longevity and that’s what matters to him at the moment.
