WWE consistently delivers high-energy action during their premium live events, and this year’s Halloween Havoc, held at the Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania, was no different. The NXT brand lived up to its reputation by putting on a night of unforgettable contests that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
One of the standout matches of the evening was the NXT North American Championship Tables, Ladders, and Scares Match, where Tony D’Angelo defended his title against Oba Femi. This comes only weeks after Oba lost the title to Tony D in Saint Lous, and he wanted that title back. With Nikkita Lyons teasing a new alliance, Oba Femi had quite an ally possible for the contest.
This match started off the Halloween Havoc event, as neither competitor had anyone in their corner to start off the contest. The match could only be won via submission or pinfall, and fans in Hersey were more than ready to see the two collide. Tony D actually didn’t even let Mike Rome finish his match introductions before jumping the challenger.
The two immediately took things to the outside and Oba Femi went through a barricade. Then Tony D’Angelo started getting out a big ladder, and he also cleared off the announcers’ desk. Oba Femi took control, and he loaded the ring with steel chairs.
The two continued this hard-hitting match as they took bumps onto chairs and ladders. They were able to keep the pace of things up so it wasn’t all rearranging furniture. Still, Oba was able to put Tony through a table after a nasty forearm shot sent him flying, but he wasn’t able to secure the pinfall.
Oba Femi grabbed a crowbar, but Tony was able to block a few hard shots while using a chair as a shield. Then Oba got Tony down on the canvas as he used that real crowbar for leverage against his face to stretch his body. Still, Tony kicked out after a pinfall attempt.
Eventually, Oba Femi took Tony D’Angelo down and he zip-tied him to the bottom rope. Adriana Rizzo came down to help Tony, but then Oba backed her off and she exited the ring. Then Rizzo grabbed the crowbar, but Oba just took it from her. Finally, Tony was able to break the zip-tie, and he speared Oba through the ropes and through a table that was bridged from the announce table.
Then they returned to the ring and Oba nailed a spear and a Fall From Grace pop-up powerbomb for a near fall. The Family jumped in the ring next, nailing Oba with a Shatter Machine, and then Tony D put Oba through a table for the win. This was quite a match, but it didn’t see Nikkita Lyons get involved. Instead, The Family stood tall to kick off the Halloween Havoc event.
