Shawn Michaels is undoubtedly one of the best in-ring performers to have ever stepped foot inside a WWE ring. He was touted as Mr. WrestleMania, and he truly lived up to the moniker. For the most part, he has remained retired from in-ring competition. That being said, he has now addressed potentially coming out of retirement for a match.

The former WWE Champion’s retirement match took place at WrestleMania 26, where he faced The Undertaker in a high-stakes Streak vs. Career No Disqualification match. In the memorable bout, The Deadman emerged victorious, leading to Shawn Michaels stepping away from in-ring competition.

However, The Showstopper made a brief return from retirement in 2018, teaming up with Triple H at WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia, where D-Generation X scored a major win against Kane and The Undertaker of The Brothers of Destruction.

Right now, Michaels plays a crucial role behind the scenes as the head of WWE’s NXT brand. In this position, he oversees the development of emerging talent and helps shape the creative vision of NXT.

While speaking in an interview with Penn Live, Shawn Michaels was asked about potentially coming out of retirement for a match. The WWE Hall of Famer confirmed that he has no intention of stepping back into the ring. Fully content with his backstage role, Michaels stated that he is happily retired from wrestling and enjoys his contributions from behind the scenes.

“I am. Yes, I am done myself in the ring. Absolutely. Yes, sir. I’m very comfortable being behind the scenes.”

Even the likes of Kevin Owens tried to bring Shawn Michaels out of retirement. Nonetheless, The Heartbreak Kid is more than happy never competing inside the squared circle again, and that’s all that matters to him in the end.
