TNA Wrestling has been gaining significant momentum recently, and Bound for Glory 2024 delivered an exciting night for fans. Held at the Wayne State Fieldhouse in Detroit, Michigan, the event’s main attraction was a major opportunity for Joe Hendry.
In the TNA World Heavyweight Championship match, Nic Nemeth, formerly known as Dolph Ziggler, defended his title against Hendry. While Nemeth was determined to hold onto the championship, he’s also reached a stage in his career where he’s focused on elevating the talent he competes with.
Frankie Kazarian is the 2024 Call Your Shot winner. He was also the special referee for this match, which was very convenient. Ace Steel also got to give Joe Hendry a pep talk before his match, where he said, “We Believe.” Hendry’s song also got a bit of an Eminem “Lose Yourself” treatment. He also donned a blue jumper and a chainsaw just like Eminem used to, which was a fitting homage in Detroit.
There were loud, “F*ck Ohio” chants after Nic Nemeth was announced as hailing from Cleveland. Then the match got going. The “F*ck Ohio” chants continued throughout the match as well.
Joe Hendry really got fans going with a stalling suplex, where he ran around the ring with Nemeth raised up. Then Nemeth returned fire with a neck breaker to take control once again.
Nic Nemeth avoided a Standing Ovation from Hendry, and he latched on a sleeper hold. Hendry got a powerbomb out of that, and gave him a chance to latch on an ankle lock for a bit until Nic got to the ropes. They moved up top, where Hendry was able to hit a fallaway slam off the top turnbuckle. Then Kazarian went to get his Call Your Shot trophy.
Joe Hendry stopped Kaz from cashing in the Call Your Shot, and when he got back in, Nic Nemeth nailed a Fameasser for a two count. Hendry avoided a Danger Zone and he hit a clothesline, went for a powerbomb, but Nic revered into a DDT for a two count from Kaz.
Joe Hendry nailed an Attitude Adjustment next, but Nic Nemeth was able to kick out at two. Hendry nailed a pump kick that sent Nemeth to the apron, but Nic was able to stop Joe and, after they battled a bit on the apron, Hendry nailed a cutter on the apron, only to fall onto ringside.
Kaz started counting, but then he eyed his trophy again, and he decided to cash it in. He called for another referee, but then JBL showed up through the crowd and he nailed a Clothesline From Hell to destroy Frankie Kazarian. He was done, and then JBL gave Hendry another Clothesline From Hell as he left. Ryan Nemeth, Nic’s brother, got a shot from JBL on his way out as well.
Nic Nemeth nailed a Danger Zone on Joe Hendry, and another referee ran down just in time for him to kick out at two. “We Believe” chants erupted from the Detroit crowd as he ate another Superkick and a Danger Zone from Nic Nemeth to lose the match clean. After the match was over, Nic Nemeth celebrated, but JBL didn’t stick around to eplain himself.
