Top Dolla was released from his WWE contract last year, making it the second time he has faced this situation. Since then, he has been thriving in other promotions, but it appears that Dolla has now confirmed when his deal with TNA Wrestling will expire.
The former WWE Superstar wasted no time making an impact after he made his debut at GCW. Now known as AJ Francis, he would also become a star in TNA Wrestling, something that he appreciates Scott D’Amore for.
While speaking during an interview with Tom Campbell from Cultaholic Wrestling, AJ Francis stated that his contract with TNA will end at the end of 2024. The former Top Dolla is open to re-signing with TNA if the deal is good. Francis explained that he would sign a new contract right away if the money and terms are right. His current deal lasts until December 31st, after which he will be a free agent.
Francis stressed that it’s important for him to feel valued in contract talks, focusing on whether TNA will support him as he deserves and how much he will be paid. Francis mentioned that TNA has given him many chances over the past year and thanked Tommy Dreamer for believing in him when others did not. He feels he has shown that he is one of the top stars and heels in the business during his time with TNA.
“If the money is right and the deal is right I would sign tomorrow night. Currently, the deal that I have with TNA goes through December 31st, and January 1st I am open in the wild,” Francis began.
“I am 100 per cent down with the possibility of re-signing with TNA. It’s just gotta make sense, it’s got to be worth what I know I’m worth. Some people get bogged down by a lot of different things when it comes to contract negotiations, mine is very simple. Do I believe you are going to push me the way I deserve to be pushed and how much money am I going to make? That’s very simple,” he continued.
“TNA has done a very good job of giving me a lot of opportunities over the past year…Do I respect the fact that TNA has done a lot for me over the past year? Absolutely, and I’ve loved my time at TNA. I’ve loved the fact that Tommy Dreamer believed in me – now everybody’s like ‘Wow, AJ’s so talented’- but flash forward back a year ago when I got fired, the only person that believed in me was Tommy Dreamer. I take that into account as well. There’s a lot of things there. I have proven over the past year that I am one of the top stars and the top heel in this business.“
Francis is the leader of the promotion’s First Class faction and he is a former TNA Digital Media Champion to boot. Therefore, we’ll have wait and see whether he will sign a new contract with TNA or if he will take his skills elsewhere, as anything is possible in the world of professional wrestling.
