John Cena surprised everyone at Money in the Bank 2024 when he announced that his in-ring career will end in 2025. He will have about thirty appearances on his farewell tour, and then he is done. There is no way of telling how many matches he will have along the way. This is a big moment for Cena, but also for anyone who gets to face him in the ring.
The Miz and John Cena have wrestled many times over the years, and The A-Lister would love to get under the fans’ skin for another shot at Cena. He could break out every heel move in his playbook, and that would be quite a sight to see at this point. The Miz is certainly all about it.
While speaking on the Rich Eisen Show, The Miz threw his hat into the race when it comes to people who are in line to face John Cena. He would be willing to “heel it up,” because he knows that Cena’s retirement tour isn’t just a gimmick.
“I literally just promoted John Cena the ultimate baby face of WWE literally having his last match at WrestleMania in Las Vegas and we’ll never see John Cena in a match at WrestleMania ever again I and and when Cena says something that’s one of those things like sometimes it’s like oh no they’ll be like Montley Cru it’s our last tour ever, and then they’re on tour three years later and here we go. No — Cena’s not like that yeah if Cena says this is it this is it, and I’m curious to see who’s gonna go up against him because I’m putting my name in the hat. I’ll heel that one out all day — boop — name’s in the Hat.”
John Cena may have a list of people he wants to face on his farewell tour, some new faces and old foes. Only time will tell if The Miz is on that list, but considering their history together, it only makes sense that WWE might let that matchup have some sort of farewell.
John Cena’s final WrestleMania will come next year in Las Vegas, and he will wrap up his in-ring career in 2025. Cena already made it clear that he won’t come back for a one-off match, either.
John Cena is obviously going to go full-tilt in on his movie career even more than he already has. This will be a historic year for WWE, if only because of John Cena’s retirement tour.
