Logan Paul, widely known for his success in entertainment and business, is now dealing with a legal challenge involving his PRIME energy drink. Lionel Messi’s beverage company has filed a lawsuit against PRIME, and Paul has recently responded to the situation, addressing the claims.

Following the launch of Messi’s sports drink, Mas+ by Mark Anthony International in June, fans of KSI and Logan Paul noticed a resemblance to PRIME Hydration and quickly labeled it a “ripoff.” On October 8, 2024, Mark Anthony International took legal action against PRIME, seeking a court declaration that their Mas+ design does not infringe on PRIME’s trademarks.

In the lawsuit, Mark Anthony International argues that the two products differ enough in design to prevent consumer confusion. They also contend that the unique marketing strategies by each company’s influencers help to clearly separate the brands.

While speaking on his Impaulsive podcast, Logan Paul finally addressed the lawsuit filed by Mark Anthony International, the company behind Messi’s sports drink, Mas+. Logan expressed surprise at the legal action, noting that while PRIME hadn’t officially accused Mas+ of trademark infringement, there had been informal discussions around potential overlap. He mentioned that instead of working toward a private resolution, Messi’s brand decided to take the matter to court.

“[Messi] is somehow suing us for copying us. How is that possible?” Logan said. “We haven’t officially accused him of infringing on our trademark, but there have been conversations that I cannot speak much on. But they ultimately decided that instead of reaching a resolution behind the scenes, they’d rather bring it to the court.”

Logan explained that fans frequently mistake Mas+ for a Latin version of PRIME, especially in Spanish-speaking regions, where people often think Messi partnered with PRIME for a localized drink.

“Or, a Messi version of Prime just like we sponsor our athletes. They think it’s like his Spanish version of Prime,” he added. “In Latin countries, they think it’s the Latin version of Prime, and Messi’s partnered with us.”

When asked about their response plan, Logan Paul hinted that PRIME has a strategic approach in place, expecting it to capture global attention as the lawsuit unfolds. He also made sure to state that the lawsuit itself was very stupid.

“Yeah, it’s kinda stupid as f**k. We have a plan. I’m sure it’ll make global headlines,” he revealed. “We’ll see how this plays out.”

This lawsuit is simply one of many that have been filed against Logan Paul as of late. Logan Paul was also hit with a lawsuit from a NASCAR driver Caesar Bacarella, who claims the brand has infringed on the trademarks of his supplement company, Alpha Prime. In addition to that, PRIME is also facing legal action from the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee and was also slapped with $68 million lawsuit by Refresco, the company that supplies the PRIME energy drink. Therefore, it remains to be seen what Logan Paul has planned for Messi’s lawsuit.
