Lio Rush’s journey back to AEW has been anything but ordinary. After previously departing the company in February 2022, Rush made a surprise return as an entrant in the Casino Gauntlet match this May. Now aligned with Top Flight and Action Andretti, Rush feels like he’s finally found his place.

Speaking on AEW Unrestricted, Rush opened up about his time away from the company and his personal quest to find where he belongs in wrestling. “I started off the year by doing my own tour called the Where’s Home World Tour,” Rush said. “I traveled all over America, Europe, and Canada, just searching for where I fit.”

Rush explained that the opportunity to return to AEW came unexpectedly. “I got a random text at three in the morning asking if I could show up in LA for the Casino Gauntlet. I knew it was going to be a surprise, but this one felt different.”

Since his return, Rush has immersed himself in AEW’s diverse programming, appearing on Dynamite, Collision, Rampage, and Ring of Honor. Reflecting on his experiences, he added:

“All the time and effort I put in showed me that AEW is where I want to be. It feels right now. I didn’t know if I wanted AEW to be my home at first, but being back in the locker room and working with everyone again made me realize that this is the place for me.”

Rush’s re-emergence has breathed new life into AEW’s landscape, and it seems he’s ready to make this run with the company a meaningful one.
