Conor McGregor is well-known for his impressive achievements in the Octagon, including the rare feat of holding championships in both the lightweight and featherweight divisions at the same time. That’s why it’s no surprise that Cody Rhodes wants to see McGregor crossover to WWE.
Conor McGregor is no stranger to engaging in online feuds with WWE Superstars, notably having a heated exchange with Roman Reigns’ Special Counsel, Paul Heyman, earlier last year. Following their exchanges, Heyman issued a warning to Conor McGregor. Conor McGregor even called out Roman Reigns for a match at WWE SummerSlam last year, but nothing came from that.
While speaking to The Schmo, Cody Rhodes made it clear that he wants to see Conor McGregor crossover to WWE. He pointed out that the competition in WWE is different from what people think; it requires a lot of discipline and professionalism to succeed and make it to events like WrestleMania. Rhodes believes that since McGregor has fought at such a high level, it might be a good time for him to try out the entertainment side of sports, and he thinks McGregor would be really good at it.
“I’ll say that one person I’d love to see just dip his toes in the WWE would be Conor McGregor. We were just talking about Proper Twelve whiskey, and I think Conor should give it a try. The competition environment at WWE is different from what people might expect—it’s so much about who’s the most disciplined, the most professional, getting to the finish line, making it to a WrestleMania. Someone like him, who’s competed at the highest level in so many incredible fights, maybe it’s time to explore the more entertainment side of sports. I think he’d be great at it.“
Conor McGregor also does not rule out competing in WWE somewhere down the line. It remains to be seen if Conor McGregor will eventually join WWE. With the recent merger between WWE and UFC now finalized, there’s a possibility that fans could see him compete in a WWE ring in the future. The collaboration could open doors for crossovers, making McGregor’s transition into professional wrestling more likely.
