Trick Williams defeated Ethan Page for the NXT Championship during NXT’s October 1 debut on The CW in Chicago and the two have been feuding since then, which will culminate in a match at NXT Halloween Havoc. They had a face-off segment during NXT this week and it appears Trick Williams has been criticized for not displaying vulnerability during the segment.

On the October 15th episode of WWE NXT, Ethan Page triumphed over Je’Von Evans and Wes Lee, earning an opportunity to challenge for the NXT Championship. That’s why the duo had a confrontation during the October 22nd editor of NXT, where they threw barbs at each other.

While speaking on Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray noted that Page is trying to be a strong opponent for Williams, which he had wanted for a while, but Bully Ray thought it felt forced.

“Ethan Page is doing a great job of trying to be the guy to breathe down Trick Williams’s neck,” Bully said. He reminded the audience he has been asking for someone to play that role for a while, and while “NXT” appears to be listening, he still has notes. “What they’re trying to do with Ethan last night is make Ethan the guy to breathe down the neck. It felt forced to me.”

Ray pointed out that when Page talked about the “metallic taste of blood,” it was a perfect moment for Williams to show some weakness and realize he might be in trouble. He stressed that a good babyface should show vulnerability instead of always acting strong.

“When Ethan Page is telling Trick Williams about the [metallic taste of blood]. That’s the moment in time I needed to see the gear change from Trick to go ‘S***, this guy’s right. Maybe I am in over my head,'” Ray continued. “Not everyone needs to be strong all the time. A great babyface will show vulnerability.”

Ethan Page also dropped a diss track targeting Trick Williams ahead of their NXT Halloween Havoc match. Nonetheless, we’ll have to wait and see whether the match will surpass all expectations, as their final confrontation on NXT this week left a lot to be desired.
