Goldberg’s status as a free agent after his WWE contract expired had fans speculating about whether he would retire or have one final match. However, his unexpected return at the Bad Blood event took everyone by surprise, leaving both fans and analysts in shock. In fact, Goldberg has finally addressed the confrontation that took place during his return.

At the Bad Blood Premium Live Event, tensions rose when WWE World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER confronted Goldberg. While Goldberg was in the crowd enjoying the show with his family, GUNTHER insulted him by calling him a “one-trick pony” to provoke a reaction. As Goldberg attempted to respond to the obvious provocation, security stepped in to prevent him from entering the ring.

While speaking on his CarCast podcast, Goldberg explained that he had taken his wife Wanda and son Gage to the show while in town for business. WWE had invited them, and Goldberg described it as a fun experience. However, things took an unexpected turn when GUNTHER confronted him.

Goldberg admitted that he should have seen it coming, especially in Atlanta, but once GUNTHER started talking trash, he couldn’t just sit there and take it. When GUNTHER brought up his family, that was the breaking point for Goldberg. As a dad, he wasn’t going to let anyone insult his son, Gage. He said it was a matter of standing up for himself and his family, regardless of the situation. Goldberg made it clear that it was simply a reaction to being provoked and moved on to the next topic.

I took Wanda and Gage to an event in Atlanta. I was in Atlanta for some business, filming a TV show. WWE extended an invitation and we came and experienced it. I don’t know how many live events I’ve actually experienced in that situation. It was cool. It was a great invite. Gage had a weekend off. I should have known. I should have known somebody was going to try and mess with me. In Atlanta, no less. We were having a great time. Gunther, I don’t want to make anything more of it than it was, but [groans]. You know me, I’m not going to sit there and let some dude talk s***. Period. End of story. What started out to be an innocent attendance of a pay-per-view turned out to being insulted by one of their current champions. I don’t care where we were, I would have done the same thing anywhere. It being Atlanta, my adopted hometown, I ain’t dead yet. As long as I’m breathing, don’t ever talk s*** about me, especially my family. When he brought Gage into it and me being a dad, that was it. It was nothing more than that. Next question.”

According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there are no plans for GUNTHER vs. Goldberg at either Survivor Series or WrestleMania. However, WrestleVotes noted that there are plans for Goldberg in the future. Therefore, it remains to be seen when the WWE Hall of Famer will make his return to WWE television as fans definitely want to see him.
