AEW star Luchasaurus, now known as Killswitch, is battling severe health complications stemming from pneumonia in both lungs, and his in-ring return remains uncertain. While there was initial optimism surrounding his recovery, recent updates from Fightful Select indicate that setbacks have complicated his path back to the ring.
In the latest installment of Fightful Select’s Q&A podcast, Sean Ross Sapp provided further insight into the AEW star’s condition. According to Sapp, Luchasaurus is still on oxygen support and nowhere near ready to begin physical training. Medical professionals reportedly believe he will eventually be able to return to wrestling, but for now, rebuilding his physical strength and stability is the top priority. “He’s going to be on oxygen for a number of weeks,” Sapp added, suggesting that his recovery will be gradual and closely monitored.
“He’s on oxygen. No where near training for a potential return. Most medical professionals he’s spoken to have indicated that, they think he will be able to return but getting ready physically is the primary goal. He’s going to be on oxygen for a number of weeks.”
The star’s health battle began in late September when his condition worsened after he collapsed at home. His blood oxygen levels had dangerously dropped below 80%, raising concerns about his well-being. While early reports indicated that he was expected to return to the gym soon, further updates have revealed complications, including calcification in a heart valve and difficulties with iron production, which increase his risk of relapse.
This latest update follows cautious comments from Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live, who stressed that Luchasaurus is facing long-term challenges that could even jeopardize his wrestling career. “It’s not certain this is a career-ending issue, but it could be,” Alvarez warned, underscoring the severity of the situation.
Luchasaurus’ journey to recovery continues, with medical evaluations ongoing to determine the extent of the damage and his ability to return to physical activity. For now, his future in the ring remains uncertain, though there is hope that with time and careful management, he will overcome these setbacks.
