Samantha Irvin announced her departure from WWE before Monday Night RAW this week and this essentially turned the entire pro wrestling world upside down since no one could have seen it coming. However, it appears there were numerous factors that led to Irvin’s departure.
Irvin’s departure came at a time where she was arguably at the height of her popularity in WWE, as her incredible introductions for the likes of GUNTHER, Chelsea Green and many more truly set her apart from her peers. Even then, Irvin felt it was the right time for her exit.
According to PWInsider, WWE was surprised by Samantha Irvin’s resignation, as she was well-liked and respected within the company. However, several factors contributed to her decision to leave. A primary concern was her scheduling, as Irvin was balancing her commitments between WWE and her family. Sources indicated that despite WWE’s reduced road schedule compared to previous years, it still required her to be away from her daughter for extended periods.
There had been discussions about her possibly working a reduced schedule, but these plans did not materialize, which may have influenced her choice to resign. On top of that, with her partner Ricochet no longer with WWE and on a different schedule, that situation might have also played a role in her decision, although this has not been explicitly confirmed by sources.
Sources further added that the lack of a reduced schedule made it increasingly difficult for Samantha Irvin to focus on outside projects. Her notoriety from WWE television has also led to increased interest from other parties outside WWE, creating opportunities that influenced her decision to resign.
Samantha Irvin’s decision to leave WWE was something she had been contemplating for a very long time, as she ultimately wants to focus on her music career now. Considering Ricochet already confirmed Irvin will not go to AEW, fans shouldn’t expect to see her there or in professional wrestling in general anytime soon, if ever again.
