AEW saw some surprises in recent memory, including Deonna Purrazzo’s debut for the company earlier this year. Immediately following her in-ring debut in AEW, she was body shamed and now she has addressed constantly getting attacked by haters online.

Deonna Purrazzo squared off against Red Velvet in her debut match for the company and right after that, she faced rampant body shaming from haters on social media. This led to Purrazzo hitting back at all of her haters as she pointed out all of her achievements.

While speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Deonna Purrazzo addressed the negative comments she received about her appearance. She expressed her frustration about how the internet often targets individuals for superficial reasons, particularly their bodies, and emphasized that she is much more than her looks or a number on a scale.

“Oh my gosh, yes they did. That’s the unfortunate beauty of the internet is when people come for you for such silly things like your body or whatever it is. I wanted to defend myself.

I felt like I needed to say something, and what I said, I mean, I feel in my heart and soul like I’m so much more than what my body looks like. I’m so much more than a number on the scale.”

Purrazzo mentioned that her husband, Steve Maclin, supports her no matter what size she is, which she believes is the most important thing. She also pointed out that she has a college degree and is working on a master’s degree. She said her success in wrestling comes from her skills and hard work, not her looks. Even though she felt hurt by the negative comments online, she was thankful for the love and support from her friends and family, which has helped her deal with the criticism.

“First of all, I’ve never been a size small, but my husband loves me whether I would be a small or I’d be an extra extra large, like he thinks I’m beautiful no matter what. And honestly, that’s all that matters. I have a college degree. I’m working on getting a master’s degree.

I have worked in every company in the world. There’s a reason people want to work with me, because of my body of work, not my body, and for people to agree with that and then say such nice things, I cried because the internet hurt my feelings, but then I cried because the love I felt for my friends and my family.”

It is quite clear that Purrazzo has grown a lot as a person after facing so much hatred simply because of her looks. No matter what, she will always have a loyal fan base and that’s what she chooses to focus on now.
