WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam, famous for his unexpected appearances, surprised fans by showing up on the September 13th episode of SmackDown. Although he had previously appeared on AEW television, it was confirmed that RVD had signed a Legends deal with WWE. However, he recently clarified the circumstances surrounding the deal.
RVD made several sporadic appearances on AEW television since last year. He stepped back into the ring on the February 21 episode of AEW Dynamite, teaming up with Hangman Adam Page and HOOK to face Samoa Joe, Swerve Strickland, and Brian Cage. RVD’s in-ring action continued with another match on the April 20 edition of AEW Collision, which marked his last appearance in AEW for the time being.
Earlier this month, RVD confirmed that he is under a Legends contract with WWE and this led many fans to believe he only just recently signed the deal with the company but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
While speaking on his 1 of a Kind Podcast with Dominic DeAngelo, RVD addressed the confusion, explaining that people often assume he’s confirming something when he interacts with comments online. He clarified that the Legends deal he referred to was signed back in 2021, not recently, and that he hadn’t made any new agreements with WWE.

Quite a few legends have signed a Legends deal with WWE recently, as the likes of DDP, Victoria, Armando Estrada, but RVD had to make sure and knew his deal wasn’t anything new. Nevertheless, we’ll have to see what’s next in store for the WWE Hall of Famer, as the sky is truly the limit for him.
