Bryan Danielson made a major statement by defeating Swerve Strickland to win the AEW World Championship at the All In pay-per-view, but his reign came to an end at WrestleDream at the hands of Jon Moxley and now the original plans for Danielson at WrestleDream have been revealed.
AEW WrestleDream 2024 delivered a night full of intense action, with the spotlight on the main event where Bryan Danielson defended his AEW World Championship against Jon Moxley. In a fierce contest, Moxley managed to secure the win by making Danielson submit, becoming the new champion.
After the match, things took a very unfortunate turn when Danielson was ruthlessly attacked by the Blackpool Combat Club. The brutal ambush left him severely injured, and he had to be taken away on a stretcher, leaving the crowd essentially speechless and saddened by the unexpected ending.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the original plan after Bryan Danielson won the AEW World Championship at Wembley was for him to drop the title to Darby Allin at WrestleDream. However, Jon Moxley’s heel turn on Danielson shifted the storyline. The new direction aims to generate as much heat as possible on Moxley and the Blackpool Combat Club, with the goal of reigniting interest in AEW and its ongoing storylines.
We have already reported that Bryan Danielson specifically requested Jon Moxley to be the one to defeat him at AEW WrestleDream. It’s uncertain when Bryan Danielson will make his return to the ring to take on the Blackpool Combat Club, as it appears he may be out for some time following his recent injury. Fans will have to wait to see how and when he seeks revenge against them.
