John Cena was the face of WWE from 2006 to 2016 before he transitioned into Hollywood, where he became a major star. Being one of the biggest stars in WWE history, Cena has certain privileges that no one else has and now Cody Rhodes has revealed the one strict rule in WWE that only Cena can ignore.

Cody Rhodes is the reigning Undisputed Champion in WWE and his ability to connect with the WWE Universe is perhaps second to only John Cena now. Rhodes is obviously a top star in the company and he is given his own privileges as well, but he shared that he has a rule he won’t break as long as John Cena is still with the company.

While speaking in an interview with SPORTbible, Cody Rhodes talked about a signature part of Cena’s entrance, where he acknowledges WWE’s long-time cameraman, Stu, before running to the ring. Rhodes revealed that this breaking of the fourth wall is something reserved solely for Cena. He explained that when he returned to WWE, he was allowed to bring back many elements, including breaking some existing rules.

The American Nightmare noted that while the production rule is to avoid talking directly into the camera, Cena has made it his trademark by mentioning Stu and running to the ring. Rhodes emphasized that he doesn’t want to see anyone else, including himself, do it because it belongs to Cena. He acknowledged that until someone surpasses Cena, this practice remains his exclusive domain.

“When I went away and came back I was allowed to bring everything back with me, including breaking a lot of the pre-existing rules.”

“We’re out of the frame of looking at monitors sideways now. You know, what’s still a pretty big on-air rule but it’s good for production purposes, is not to talk into the camera.

“That’s John’s thing. John looks at the camera and mentions Stu the cameraman, runs to the ring. I don’t want to see anyone, including myself, do it – and I probably have done at some point.

“But that’s his (thing) and that’s the reason why it’s a rule – until somebody beats him and then it’s his.”

As for John Cena’s future in WWE, he will begin his retirement tour in 2025, and he will bring his in-ring career to an end in December next year. Therefore, we’ll have to see if Cody Rhodes will end up breaking the same rule that John Cena has the privilege of breaking on a regular basis, once The Leader of Cenation retires.

Do you believe Cody Rhodes should follow in John Cena's footsteps and break this certain rule once Cena retires? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
