Chris Jericho has long been recognized for his versatility, not only in the wrestling world but also in other forms of entertainment. In addition to his music career as the frontman of Fozzy, Jericho has now ventured into acting, appearing in ”Terrifier 3.” Unsurprisingly, Jericho has taken some credit for the growing success of the ”Terrifier” franchise.

In 2022, Chris Jericho made a surprise appearance in the post-credits scene of ”Terrifier 2,” catching the attention of both wrestling and horror movie fans. Jericho later confirmed that he would reprise his role in the highly anticipated ”Terrifier 3,” which was set for release in October this year.

The film hit theaters last week and quickly became a massive success, resonating with both fans and critics. ”Terrifier 3” topped the U.S. box office over the weekend, earning an impressive $18.3 million, solidifying its place as a standout hit in the horror genre.

While speaking with Joblo Celebrity Interviews, Chris Jericho talked about his connection to the series as he explained how he first came across the original movie while on tour with his band, Fozzy, and was one of the earliest supporters of the film. Jericho used his podcast, Talk Is Jericho, to promote ”Terrifier,” helping to introduce it to a larger audience, particularly his horror-loving fanbase.

After meeting David Howard Thornton, who plays Art the Clown, at a Comic-Con horror convention, Jericho’s involvement in the franchise deepened. When director Damien Leone began planning the sequel, he offered Jericho a role in ”Terrifier 2.” Reflecting on the experience, Jericho said he was thrilled to be part of the project, even joking about filming his scenes at a mental institution in Staten Island. Jericho sees himself as part of the grassroots movement that helped boost the cult status of ”Terrifier” and its continued success.

I was a big fan of the first movie. We discovered it on the Fozzy tour bus, and I was the first person that I knew was talking about it. So I was going on Talk is Jericho, my podcast, and letting everybody know about this movie that you have to see because I have a big horror fan contingency for the show. Then I did a Comic-Con horror con, I guess, where David was there and he was on Talk Is Jericho. That’s kind of how it all started. I was like, you guys got to watch this movie, Terrifier this, Terrifier that. I’d like to think that I was part of the grassroots movement to turn people onto this film, and then, once it became kind of a talked about cult hit when Damien started talking about doing part two, he asked me if i wanted to be involved, and I was like, of course. Just tell me what time and what mental institution in Staten Island i have to be at.

”Terrifier 3” has garnered acclaim from both critics and horror movie enthusiasts, who appreciate it as a refreshing addition to the genre. The film currently holds a 73% critic score and an impressive 88% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, so we’ll have to see if a fourth film will be greenlit as fans are clearly loving the franchise so far.
