WWE’s Potential Timeline for GUNTHER vs. Goldberg Match

Goldberg’s status as a free agent after his WWE contract expired created speculation about a potential retirement match. However, his surprise return at Bad Blood caught both fans and analysts off guard. Many fans started to wonder if WWE was planning a match between him and GUNTHER, and now details about the potential timeline for that match have been revealed.

At the Bad Blood Premium Live Event, tensions rose when WWE World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER confronted Goldberg. While Goldberg was in the crowd enjoying the show with his family, GUNTHER insulted him by calling him a “one-trick pony” to provoke a reaction. As Goldberg attempted to respond to the obvious provocation, security stepped in to prevent him from entering the ring.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there are no plans for a match between GUNTHER and Goldberg at Crown Jewel. Instead, GUNTHER is scheduled to compete against Cody Rhodes at the event and this led to fans wondering if a match would even happen between them.

During the Live Q&A with Bill Apter and WrestleVotes, host Joe Lowry asked about WWE’s plans for a potential match between Goldberg and GUNTHER, which was hinted at Bad Blood 2024. WrestleVotes noted that plans for the match were in place shortly before Bad Blood. Additionally, there may be an angle developed at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia, setting the stage for a match at Survivor Series, which will be part of the undercard.

Fans will need to wait to find out if the WWE Hall of Famer will return to the ring soon, especially since Goldberg hasn’t competed in a WWE match since facing Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber 2022. Fans feel Goldberg vs. GUNTHER at Survivor Series would make sense as Survivor Series holds significance for Goldberg, where he famously squashed Brock Lesnar at the 2016 Survivor Series.
