Scott D’Amore’s sudden exit from his role as TNA President caused a major change in the wrestling world. As a major name in the organization, his departure left a huge void and he is now more focused on his Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling venture and it appears it wasn’t smooth sailing from the very start.
Anthem Sports & Entertainment Inc. stirred up significant controversy in the wrestling community by appointing Anthony Cicione as the new President of TNA Wrestling, taking over from longtime leader Scott D’Amore.
The relaunch of Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling, led by former TNA Wrestling President Scott D’Amore, is gaining momentum as it gears up for its major Forged In Excellence event. The two-night showcase is set to take place on October 19 and October 20 at St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
Fightful Select reports that Scott D’Amore is starting his next project this weekend but had to negotiate contractually to do so. After being let go from TNA Wrestling earlier this year, he is still receiving payment for a full year. D’Amore initially faced a non-compete clause that extended until then, but he confirmed that he and TNA were able to come to an agreement allowing him to run Maple Leaf Wrestling. He is set to promote the Maple Leaf Wrestling: Forged in Excellence event this weekend in Windsor, Ontario.
Regardless, D’Amore will continue to pave his own path in pro wrestling, so we’ll have to see whether his upcoming Maple Leaf Wrestling events will turn out to be a success, as the world is truly his oyster at the moment.
