Bret Hart, famous for his incredible in-ring abilities, gained the fame and recognition that many pro wrestlers dream of. That’s why fans are always happy to see him whenever he appears at a wrestling event. In fact, he made a special appearance on RAW last month and has shared details about how that appearance came together.
The September 9 episode of Monday Night RAW was held in Calgary, Alberta, and it was an incredible night for fans, and the energy especially soared when Bret Hart made his return. He expressed pride in being a champion, especially as a Canadian, and talked about the toughness of Canadian wrestlers. However, the celebration was interrupted by World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER.
GUNTHER recognized Hart’s legendary status but upset the crowd by saying that his favorite Canadian wrestler was Goldberg. Just before things got heated, Sami Zayn came out and challenged GUNTHER for the World Heavyweight Championship.
While speaking to The Wrestling Classic podcast, Bret Hart was asked how his appearance on Monday Night RAW came together. He revealed he found out about his appearance about four or five days before when he got a call asking if he wanted to come. He thought to himself, “What else am I doing?” and then described the experience as very special and was surprised by the positive reaction from the fans. Hart also mentioned that it had been a long time since he had performed in front of a Calgary crowd.
“Maybe four or five days ahead of time, I found out that they called and asked me if I wanted to go down. I thought, ‘What else am I doing?’ But yeah, it was really special. I didn’t expect that kind of reaction, and of course, it had been a long time since I walked out in front of a Calgary crowd.”
Bret Hart’s appearance was a special moment leading up to WWE’s Survivor Series event in Vancouver this November. It’s still unclear if he will attend the Premium Live Event, but fans were happy to see The Hitman on RAW last month and that’s all that matters at the moment.
