Matt Cardona, who was known as Zack Ryder in WWE, didn’t fully reach his potential before he was released in 2020. Since then, he has reinvented himself and found success in independent wrestling. He has now confirmed whether he received any contract offers from WWE or AEW.

In the four years since his WWE release, Matt Cardona has found renewed success on the independent circuit, earning the nickname “Indy God” for his achievements in various independent wrestling promotions.

While speaking during an interview with Denise Salcedo, Matt Cardona was honest about his situation. He emphasized that he doesn’t want to mislead fans; he hasn’t received any contracts from either WWE or AEW. Instead, he’s focusing on improving himself and becoming the best version of himself.

Cardona said he can only control what he can control and isn’t going to pretend there have been multiple offers. Cardona is committed to continuing to elevate his status in independent wrestling, creating his own path and legacy. He acknowledges the pressure to keep improving, but he welcomes it as a motivating factor.

Cardona stated that he’s always ready for a call from a major promotion, but he doesn’t want to wait around for it. He prefers to keep pursuing his goals, having fun, and making money while staying proactive in his career.

“I can only control what I can control. I’m not going to lie to the people. I’m not going to pretend there’s been all these offers. As a matter of fact, I haven’t been offered anything from WWE or AEW, and it is what it is. Maybe that will change one day, but for now, I just need to focus on being me. I need to focus on reinventing myself again. I need to focus on being the top guy in the indies for another year,” he said. “I gotta focus on maybe changing the indies, elevating other people. I can’t harp on what’s not going on. I have to focus and put all my focus on just me and create my own path and create my own legacy.

“I feel like I’ve done that the past four years, but with it’s almost another year, it’s almost 2025, so the pressure’s on to top myself, and it’s a good pressure,” he adds. “I love the pressure, but listen, I’m always ready, right? If the phone rings right now. I’ll have a conversation, but I can’t just be waiting by the phone, you know? I can’t sit here, ‘Please call.’ I can’t do that. That’s not how I want to live, and that’s not how I want to have my career go. I want to do my own thing, be my own boss, have a lot of fun, make a lot of money, and if the call comes, I’m always ready.”

Matt Cardona had previously made it clear he wanted to end his career at WrestleMania or Arthur Ashe Stadium. Therefore, we will have to wait and see if he will return to WWE or AEW, as both companies remain viable options for him at the moment.
