Ethan Page lost the NXT Title to Trick Williams during NXT’s October 1 debut on The CW in Chicago. CM Punk was the special guest referee for that contest, and Page isn’t happy about how it all went down. This week on NXT, All Ego had a chance to get another shot at his NXT Title.
However, Ethan Page had to overcome Wes Lee and Je’Von Evans in a triple threat match during the October 15 episode of NXT before he could call himself the #1 contender once again.
These three fought on in the main event of NXT this week. As “Fight Forever” chants rang out, Evans nailed a Spanish Fly from the top rope on Page for a very close fall. This was almost Evans’ moment, but the match carried on.
The fans were at a fever pitch as the triple threat match carried on into the final moments of the show this week. Ethan Page got Evans up for an Ego’s Edge, but he missed. Then Lee nailed a double knees from the top, which was followed by a cutter from Evans for a close near fall.
Page then stopped Evans as he was climbing to the top rope, but Wes Lee then took control. Ethan Page tried to pull off a double powerbomb from the top rope, but they avoided it.
Finally, Ethan Page was able to roll Je’Von Evans up for a pinfall to get the win at the very last second. This wasn’t the result that anyone in the NXT Arena wanted to see, but it certainly did the job for Ethan Page.
Then they spun the wheel to make a deal for the title match. Trick Williams came out as Page spun the wheel, and it landed on a Devil’s Playground Match. We will have to see how things turn out on NXT next week.
How long will Trick Williams hang onto the NXT Title this time around to continue the Whoop That Era? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
