Britt Baker has been with AEW since its inception and continues to be one of the top stars in the women’s division. However, she missed Dynamite last week because of illness, and details about the internal reaction to her absence have come to light.
Fans of Britt Baker grew worried when the former AEW Women’s World Champion had to sit out the October 8 episode of AEW Dynamite due to illness. Later, Baker revealed she had been dealing with strep throat but reassured everyone that she was feeling much better.
While speaking on Fightful Select’s Q&A podcast, Sapp shared details about the internal reaction to Britt Baker missing AEW Dynamite last week due to illness. Many people used phrases like “Oh, that’s not going to work for me, sister,” suggesting that her absence was due to not wanting to lose.
However, Sean Ross Sapp noted that there hasn’t been any concern about Britt Baker avoiding losses. In fact, he noted that throughout her career, she has taken losses to prove a point and show that she can handle being pinned.
“A lot of people were dropping the “Oh, that’s not going to work for me sister” type of line like she didn’t show up because she didn’t want to lose. I never heard of it being an issue with Britt Baker losing matches. In fact, I’ve been told in points throughout her career, she lost to kind of prove a point. That she could take those pins.”
Even most recently, Britt Baker had to shut down a hater who wanted her to retire from professional wrestling for good. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen when the former AEW Women’s Champion will be fit enough to make her in-ring return, as there are definitely many fans who want her to be a regular fixture on AEW programming no matter what.
