WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg made a surprise appearance at WWE Bad Blood, confronting World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER after “The Ring General” disrespected him in a heated exchange. WWE seemed to set the stage for a potential showdown between the two powerhouses, especially after Goldberg issued his signature threat, screaming “You’re Next!” into the camera. However, at 57 years old, many are speculating that Goldberg’s next match could very well be his last.
During his reaction show on “83 Weeks,” former WCW executive Eric Bischoff offered his take on the possibility of Goldberg’s retirement and shared who he thinks should be his final opponent—none other than rising WWE Raw star Bron Breakker, son of wrestling legend Rick Steiner.
Bischoff elaborated, saying, “I would be using Bill to help get somebody over and I would look for an underdog. I’d look for somebody young or I’d look for something that had a story to it… you could use Rick Steiner’s son [Bron], they’ve done a good job of establishing the Steiner brothers since WrestleMania.”
Bischoff went on to explain that the history between Goldberg, the Steiner brothers, and Bron Breakker, dating back to WCW, would make for a compelling narrative that could be told without requiring months of buildup.
Goldberg’s last in-ring appearance was at Elimination Chamber 2022, where he unsuccessfully challenged Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship. Should he return for one final match, it would be his 12th singles contest since coming back to WWE in 2016.
As WWE teases the possibility of Goldberg vs. GUNTHER, fans are left to wonder whether this could be Goldberg’s farewell moment or if Bischoff’s suggestion of a match with Breakker will come to fruition.
