The Young Bucks, Matt and Nick Jackson, have received lots of criticism regarding their personalities and the image they present. Despite this, they picked up the win at AEW WrestleDream, successfully retaining their tag team titles. With that said, there has also been clarification regarding their stance over dropping the tag team titles to Private Party at WrestleDream.

At AEW WrestleDream 2024, The Young Bucks defended their AEW World Tag Team Championships against Private Party in an exciting match with many close calls. The crowd was really supporting Private Party, but they couldn’t win, which allowed The Young Bucks to keep their titles for over 171 days.

Reports noted that people backstage were pushing for Private Party to win their first AEW titles after being in the company for five years. Their storyline focused on proving themselves again, especially after a past win over The Young Bucks that didn’t help their status. In the end, the decision was made for The Young Bucks to retain their titles.

The Young Bucks saw the reports about this and responded on Twitter. They made a reference to Hulk Hogan, saying that Private Party winning the titles just didn’t work for them, using the line, “That doesn’t work for us, brother.”

While speaking on Fightful Select’s Q&A podcast, Sean Ross Sapp addressed The Young Bucks referencing Hogan and noted that they were playing it up for entertainment. According to sources, they don’t actually care about who they lose to, and it’s not a concern for them. Instead, others have expressed a desire for The Young Bucks to hold onto their titles.

The Young Bucks said, “That doesn’t work for us, brother.” Funny enough, I know they are playing it up. I heard that they really do not care who they lose to. I was told it was not an issue but other people wanted them to hold onto that.”

While it was unfortunate that Private Party didn’t capture the AEW World Tag Team Titles at WrestleDream, fans remain optimistic that the company will eventually provide them an opportunity to win the tag team gold. Many feel they deserve this achievement after putting in over five years of hard work, especially if The Young Bucks are willing to lose to them.
