Will Ospreay’s Status for 10/16 AEW Dynamite After Vicious Assault During WrestleDream

Will Ospreay is a big star in AEW, recognized for his exceptional in-ring abilities and that’s why he won the International Championship. However, that changed at AEW WrestleDream and following a vicious attack on Ospreay, his status for Dynamite next week has been revealed.

During the AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view, Will Ospreay defended his AEW International Championship against Konosuke Takeshita and Ricochet in a triple threat match that ended up surpassing all expectations.

The final moments of the match saw Will Ospreay delivering a Hidden Blade to Konosuke Takeshita, but Don Callis pulled the referee out of the ring, preventing the count. Callis then entered the ring armed with a screwdriver, but Ospreay tried to stop him. At that moment, Kyle Fletcher attacked Ospreay, aligning himself with Callis. Takeshita took advantage of the situation, hitting Ospreay with an exposed knee to the face. The referee was brought back into the ring and counted the pin, making Takeshita the new AEW International Champion in a controversial finish.

Right after that, Will Ospreay tried to hit the Tiger Driver ’91 on Don Callis but Kyle Fletcher hit Ospreay from behind with a screwdriver before hitting a Tiger Driver ’91 of his own, taking out The Aerial Assassin, as Fletcher solidified his heel turn.

According to Fightful Select, Will Ospreay will not be appearing on the October 16th episode of AEW Dynamite as he recovers and sells the injuries he sustained following the brutal assault at the WrestleDream pay-per-view.

We will have to wait and see how AEW will book Will Ospreay and The Don Callis Family’s feud in the coming weeks, as it’s clear this will be their current program as we head towards the Full Gear pay-per-view next month.
