Things got fiery on social media during the 2024 AEW WrestleDream PPV as FTR’s Dax Harwood and wrestling podcast host JD From NY exchanged heated words over recent news surrounding AEW and Jimmy Jacobs’ exit from the company. It all kicked off when JD questioned the official narrative behind Jacobs’ departure.

JD From NY questioned the official statement, claiming that Jacobs, who had been described as Tony Khan’s right-hand man, was “burnt out.” JD speculated that the situation was far more complex, even alleging that Jacobs was fired and used as a “scapegoat” for AEW’s perceived need to improve its television product. JD’s harsh critique of Tony Khan’s leadership and AEW’s creative direction had a sharp tone, likening Khan’s control of the company to that of a McMahon-like figure.

JD wrote, “Jimmy Jacobs was FIRED, and Jimmy Jacobs is the scapegoat for ‘better television’… It starts, and ends with you [Tony Khan]. Everyone else’s opinion is dust in the wind. Might as well call yourself a McMahon. The similarities are SCARY.”

This led to Dax Harwood jumping into the conversation, defending both AEW and Khan in a passionate response. Dax expressed disbelief at JD’s constant criticism of the company and labeled his obsession with AEW and Tony Khan as “stalker-like.” Harwood urged JD to stop watching AEW if he disliked it so much, pointing out that he focuses on enjoying his life and supporting his family, rather than consistently complaining online.

Dax shot back, “Dude. I feel so sorry for you. If I hated something as much as you hate AEW & Tony, I’d just stop watching it… It’s almost stalker-like how infatuated you are with Tony and this company.”

JD then responded with a more personal message, expressing sympathy for Dax and his family in light of the recent aftermath of Hurricane Helene, even offering prayers and well wishes. However, Dax did not take kindly to JD’s comment, turning the conversation back to donations and relief efforts. He revealed that he had donated a significant amount of money to the cause, challenging JD on how much he had contributed to his “friends” affected by the disaster.

Dax replied, “I’ve donated almost 6 figures to relief efforts, I’m not allowed to tweet about my company? How much have you donated to your friends and Western North Carolina and Tennessee? What have you done? Or have you just continued to tweet?”

The exchange highlighted Dax’s passionate defense of AEW while showcasing JD’s ongoing critical stance toward the company. This heated back-and-forth drew the attention of wrestling fans, sparking a broader conversation about AEW’s creative direction and how its detractors express their views.
