WrestleDream 2024 was held at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Washington, showcasing a series of high-profile bouts. Jon Moxley’s journey to challenge Bryan Danielson for the AEW World Championship was a hard-fought one, culminating in Moxley emerging victorious. Following the match, a vicious attack took place, leading AEW to issue an official statement regarding the incident.

The AEW WrestleDream 2024 event at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Washington, concluded on a highly emotional note, with Excalibur visibly moved as Bryan Danielson not only lost his championship to Jon Moxley but also appeared to be forced into retirement after suffering a brutal attack following the match.

After the bout, Jon Moxley was joined by Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, and Marina Shafir in the ring. Moxley placed the AEW Championship in a sack and then pulled out a plastic bag, signaling an ominous intent to suffocate Danielson. Just as they prepared to act, Darby Allin rushed to the ring, chair in hand, to attempt a rescue. However, Wheeler Yuta ambushed Allin, restraining him to the ropes, forcing him to helplessly watch as Yuta proceeded to suffocate Danielson with the bag.

Jeff Jarrett also tried to intervene but was quickly overwhelmed and beaten down. The attack escalated further as Danielson’s head was placed inside a steel chair and violently stomped on. The locker room emptied as wrestlers rushed to the ring to drive off the attackers. Meanwhile, a stretcher was brought out for Danielson, and Allin was freed from his restraints. As Danielson was being carried out, the show ended on a sad note with Excalibur deeply emotional on commentary.

After the event, AEW took to Twitter and announced that they would not be sharing footage of the post-match assault on Bryan Danielson due to its graphic nature, which doesn’t come as a surprise to many.

”Due to its graphic nature, AEW will not be posting the post-match attack on Bryan Danielson.”

AEW did a similar thing during All Out last month after Jon Moxley choked Danielson out with a plastic bag. Regardless, Danielson’s full-time in-ring career has now come to a definitive end, so we’ll have to wait and see when Danielson will make his return to the squared circle and exact revenge on the Blackpool Combat Club.
