Mariah May is having a great time as AEW Women’s Champion after taking the title from Toni Storm at All In 2024. Although the Timeless one hasn’t been back, many fans were expecting to see her return at WrestleDream 2024, but Willow Nightingale didn’t want to waste this amazing opportunity to win the title, either.

Willow Nightingale’s journey in AEW has been full of challenges, and her latest one came in Tacoma, Washington, where she faced Mariah May in one of her toughest matches yet.

This title match was the second contest of the night at WrestleDream, following Jay White’s victory over Hangman Page. Willow had earned her shot at the title by defeating Jamie Hayter, Saraya, and Nyla Rose in a four-way match, giving her strong momentum heading into the bout.

Mariah May played the crowd well, drawing heat as Willow remained the fan favorite in Washington. At one point, May kissed Willow’s forehead before delivering a punch, but Willow responded by biting her in defiance.

Willow gained some momentum after that, hitting a massive spinebuster, but Mariah May kicked out. Later, Willow delivered a cannonball in the corner, but missed a sunset flip, allowing May to counter with a splash and a near fall with her Mayday move.

Willow fought back with headbutts and a lariat, but couldn’t secure the pin. Mariah May then hit a hurricanrana off the top rope, followed by her finisher to win the match and retain her title. Both Willow and Mariah delivered standout performances, leaving fans wondering what’s next for them.
