Jimmy Jacobs has officially wrapped up his time with All Elite Wrestling, according to Fightful Select.

Jacobs resigned from his position this past week, citing burnout as the primary reason for his departure. The split was reportedly amicable, with both sides agreeing it was time for a fresh start.

Jacobs, who joined AEW in June 2023, had been a key player on the writing team, working closely with Tony Khan at nearly every event. AEW views his exit as a chance to “freshen up” the writers’ room and introduce new creative perspectives.

Before his time in AEW, Jimmy Jacobs made waves in WWE, where he was part of the creative team from 2015 to 2017. During his tenure with WWE, Jacobs contributed to some of the most notable storylines, especially in the development of major angles for top stars. He was highly regarded for his creative input and his ability to help build intricate, engaging storylines.

However, Jacobs’ WWE career came to an abrupt and controversial end. In 2017, he was released from WWE after posting a selfie on Instagram with members of The Bullet Club during their “invasion” of Monday Night Raw. The photo, which included wrestlers like Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks, violated WWE’s policy on fraternizing with talent from rival promotions, leading to his termination. Despite the abrupt end, Jacobs remained a highly sought-after talent due to his skills and creativity.
