Prior to her becoming a WWE Superstar, Jade Cargill was booked as an unstoppable force in AEW as the TBS Champion, where she had an incredible undefeated streak for a very long time. With that said, Cargill has now claimed that she did not have direction in AEW.
Jade Cargill even stated that she couldn’t have gotten better start than in AEW and that it prepared her for WWE. Even then, Cargill previously made it clear during the Bash in Berlin media scrum that she was simply tired of being asked about her time in AEW.
While speaking to HOT 97, Jade Cargill talked about how tough it was when she first began in AEW, feeling like she was thrown into a situation without help. Cargill claimed that she didn’t have direction in AEW, and didn’t know how to act like a heel and just tried to be herself.
That is why she became overwhelmed with all the advice she received in AEW. She mentioned that finding a supportive group of people was difficult because many wanted to help her, but she didn’t want to upset anyone. She wanted to do her best for herself and the company. Regarding guidance, she noted that many people offer their help in WWE. CM Punk and Cody Rhodes are two who have been particularly supportive, along with other experienced wrestlers who see her potential and want her to do well in the industry.
I would say that being thrown on TV without any direction was challenging. I didn’t really know how a heel was supposed to act; I just tried to be myself. They told me to be myself, so I thought, ‘Okay, I’ll be myself.’
Then, I had people giving me all kinds of directions, and it felt overwhelming. I would say finding your tribe is one of the hardest things because everybody wants to help you, but you don’t want to offend anyone. You want to do the best you can for the company and for yourself.
As for producers or anyone who pulls me aside to offer guidance, there are a lot of people who do. Everybody wants to help me. I know CM Punk is one of those people, and Cody Rhodes is another. I mean, all the greats have always wanted to help me. They see what I can bring to the table and want me to achieve big things in this industry.”
Jade Cargill also revealed her relationship with AEW following her exit, as she made it clear many in AEW were happy for her, following her WWE venture. Nonetheless, many fans may or may not agree with what Jade Cargill had to say considering how she was booked in AEW.
