AEW brought a big pay-per-view event to Tacoma, Washington for WrestleDream. Adam Cole has been out of action for a long time, but the former NXT Champion made his long-awaited return.

The TNT Title match ended in controversy as Shibata locked in a chokehold, but Perry rolled onto his back and secured the pinfall, catching everyone off guard. The outcome left fans upset. After the match, tensions rose as Perry struck Shibata with the TNT Title, leaving him down in the ring.

Daniel Garcia ran down to stop Perry’s attack on Shibata, but MJF made his return, interrupting Garcia. MJF emphasized that during his time off, he was making movies and millions, and then announced that he had reclaimed his Dynamite Diamond ring from the pawn shop where Daniel had sold it.

As MJF prepared to hit Daniel Garcia with the Dynamite Diamond ring, Adam Cole appeared. Though he did not get physical, his presence was enough to send MJF retreating. Cole, notably without a boot on his injured foot, appeared fully cleared and ready to compete.

Despite his injury, Adam Cole has remained active in AEW storylines, most notably betraying MJF at Worlds End in December, forming The Undisputed Kingdom with Matt Taven, Mike Bennett, Roderick Strong, and Wardlow. His last appearance on AEW television was during Double or Nothing in May, where an in-ring confrontation with MJF led to Cole being written off TV.

It was recently reported that Adam Cole’s return to the ring is expected soon. It was later reported that he was in Tacoma for the pay-per-view.

We will have to see what is next for Adam Cole, but his return was certainly a shocking moment. It also came moments after MJF made his own return. Needless to say, those two have quite a lot of unfinished business.
